Defi Gauge Installation Help Needed
Hey Colorado,
I've had some brand new Defi gauges For the past few years waiting to be installed into my GC8 2.5RS NA. I've talked to shops in the area and it doesn't seem like anyone is willing to do it for a reasonable price. I'm pretty knowledgeable but I need help with these gauges they have been sitting around way too long. I've got an EGT, Vac, Oil Pres gauges and I'm looking for one; guidance on how to install the best way. Two I'm looking for garage help. Beer, food and such would be provided along with money to cover gas and make it worth it $40-$60. I have drills, tap and die set and most tools I would think will be need. Gauges are installed into the gauge pod and all the electrical wiring is done for the main unit. I just need help installing the sensors and their cables to the main unit and up to the gauges. Oil pressure I'm guessing will be the hardest. What other parts might be needed? Where to tap in? I'm getting new gaskets for the header. #3 is the hottest, Correct? How far from down should it be installed? Does it need to be welded on or is screw in and use some lock tight okay? What vacuum line is best to use? This weekend or next. During the week is okay for me too, anytime really . I could drive to you if you have all the tools doesn't matter. Any help is very very much appreciated.

Vac is to NA as PSI is to Turbo.
I'll start searching around. Where is this sandwich adapter installed? Any links? I'm starting to read about a galley plug install method too, anymore info on what that is? |

No prob GF2112. Also if there are any local shops reading this I probably already called you but if I didn't I would love to hear any price quotes. I'm not having any luck finding a sandwich adapter. I see people talking about them but I can't find any for sale.

Ahhh Awesome thanks a bunch AwkWarD. Wow $70 bucks that sucks. These are all pretty universal I would guess. Same oil filter from like 98-2011 right? Cuz I have an EJ25 GC8 2001 n/a.
What do you guys think about the prosport galley plug? It's just way cheaper. http://prosportgauges.com/subaru-oil-galley-plug.aspx Wish I would have known I needed these sooner, I wonder if I could find a local performance shop that might carry one, I hate waiting for shipping. |

MMmmmmm, from what I'm reading subaru uses BSP threads.??

My sender or sensor is 1/8PT and it also comes with an adapter to 1/8NPT. That galley plug is I'm guessing ???BSP to 1/8NPT. Where can this be used on an EJ25 besides the factory switch location? They say "Behind the throttle linkage on the drivers side of the turbo outlet" and also show a pic. I know right where that is and I'll be looking tomorrow but if it's not there since they're talking turbo newer models I honestly don't know enough about motors to locate a different spot myself. The sandwich plate adapter has two 1/8pt inlets so it would work for sure but I fear leaks and want to save some money if I can and use the PT to NPT adapter and then the NPT to BSP factory plug adapter. Also where is the absolute best place for the EGT probe on an N/A EJ25 #3?
Just to be sure #3 is front passenger side cylinder correct? How far down the header should it be installed exactly? Last edited by MaXThReAT; 12-30-2011 at 11:25 PM. |

I used the Greddy sandwich adapter for the oil pressure and it has worked out great. I have the Defi Advance gauges.
