Sorry guys, I went through like 6 pages and couldn't do any more. I think I'm getting new wheels pretty soon for my 09 DGM hatch, and am looking at probably some 17x9. The suspension is stock right now, but I know a guy who has some springs to take it down about an inch (don't remember brand). Will I need fender rolling? Anyone else running something similar?

Depends on offset of the wheels and size of the tire.

I'm wondering how far I can go, and who else is pushing limits or when they rolled.

And what's everyone's opinion on the best color for the dgm? I would like maybe bronze but not sure if it will work... Black if I have to.

Think I'd go gold over bronze... IMHO bronze can look like poop brown... Black or gold in my opinion... Or if you're feeling ballsy could do red, yellow, orange, or any other light color

For a 17x9, I would go with a 245/40/17 tire if you don't want any stretch, although that is a little shorter than stock. 255/40/17 would be the same diameter as stock. Choose the right offset though, because too low of an offset and you'll run into rubbing issues with your fender and too high of an offset might cause clearance issues with the stock shocks. Maybe someone who has more experience with 17s on these cars can chime in, in that department. And I would go with black on a DGM car.

I tried to throw a set of 8.5x18, ET 44 Rotas w/ 245/40/18 Federal SS595 tires (run pretty wide for a 245) on my '09. I'm pretty low - running RCE Blacks springs & konis - 13.5" from the hub center to the top of the fender arch.
No dice. Too aggressive for my taste - the tires protruded beyond the fender by about 1/4". I would have had to roll my fenders & dial in too much negative camber to tuck 'em in. It looked like I'd have to pull the fenders a bit, too.

So, I went with the same rim, but in an 8x18 ET 48 w/ 245/40/18 Hankook V12 Evos. Fitment is just right.

Hmm, makes me a little worried about the setup I want to run in the Spring when I need new tires. I have Epic springs (1") on stock shocks, 18x8.5 +44 wheels and 225/40/18 tires and I'm at 13.5" from hub to center right now; but there is plenty of space between the fender and tire. I'm getting Konis installed in 2 months and in the Spring I was going to switch to 245/40/18s. I don't mind the tires sticking out a little; to tell you the truth, it does right now a little. I just don't want to rub, that's my main concern. Did you drive on this setup at all or did you take them right off?

Fenders rolled. Sliiiight pull but I still have room for more rubber. I think you could get away with just a roll at all four corners.

I have no interest in rolling, pulling or rubbing so I guess I'll just stick with 235/40/18s.

Yeah, that's like not shaving your balls. Just saying.

Nah, if you don't wanna roll, stick with 235's to be safe.

I'm not keeping this car forever so I don't want evidence that it was modified to fit larger wheels/tires. Plus, I'm getting Konis and new tires installed soon so if I can avoid spending additional money on rolling fenders, then it just makes it that much easier on the wallet.

The biggest thing is I just want to reduce some wheel gap, increase my sidewall and get rid of the small amount of stretch I have going on, which a 235/40 will do; just not as much as a 245/40.

235/40R18's fill it very nicely, in my opinion.
