Irrelevant to your thread entirely, but I know you check this more often than anywhere.

Here's a video containing all the shenanigans those guys who drifted the Mustangs at SEMA got into:

This is amazing...

I do have some questions since I want to do this swap on my 06 WRX.

1. I want to do it, but I don't want it to be as complicated as yours (I'll need the car running within a few weeks as it's my daily). From what I've read, I can reuse my intake manifold or an STI one and I'll be fine. Can you confirm?

2. I also read something about AVCS and cam sensors (Hell, they may be the same thing. I don't know). What can you tell me about this part?

3. Where do you think is the best place to get a V8 STI engine? And do you think I should also save up and purchase a transmission with it?

I'm late to reply, but thank you for the kind words. I hope all of this work can help others out.

Thank you, sir! I've been pursuing other interests and my career lately so the car hasn't been touched too much. I do have a coil-pack to fix and a BPV to get setup. I'll get an update up after that.

Wow.... This's an amazing journey you had to build this project. I have done a few 50 000$ build car and I know by experience this take a lot of patience. Your project is a great inspiration for me. I'm planning to swap a version 7 in my 2006 prestine STI.

Once you taste an EJ207 you are addicted to it. I BARELY use my 2006 EJ257 STI since I swape an EJ207 in my bugeye.

Did or do you have any complication / problem / leaks with all the cam sensor modification you had done? Will be doing it too!

Did you use open tune to tune the ecu?

Again awesome job!

Hey man! *AZAWD'er checking in*

I just bought a Version 8 EJ207 for my Bugeye last week, according to Fed Ex it arrives today. I will definitely be reading through your thread again for inspiration and info.

Your write up on putting the sensors into the heads are a lifesaver.
Thank you for that in particular, overall the car looks amazing and great work!

An update on the use of a single AVCS EJ207 on 32 bit cars, instead of grinding out the sensor hole to move the position of the cam sensor I had my cam machined to extend the timing marks over enough to pass by the sensor in the stock hole. After that just replace the o-rings on the cam sensors with a AS-568 Dash-116 o-ring and you're set. Below are some pictures of the modified cams and the modifications to the sensor to get them to use the stock bolt mounting.

Some material must be removed on the bottom corner of one sensor due to the spotface not being large enough to make the cam sensor sit flush against the head.

The rib must be removed to use the stock flange bolt once the mounting hole is moved over. Using a socket head cap screw may eliminate the need for this.

This shows the modification done to the timing grooves on the EJ257 cams.

Thanks again Ken for the throttle body adapter plate!

I am planning on doing this.
I just want to confirm that you have ran this and haven't had any issues.
I just got done looking at it and had a few clarifications.

You didn't do anything to the passenger side cam.
You had to mill the cam down as well so that the whole surface was flush before extending the keyhole.

Also you have since run it and had zero issues? It appears to me that the gap is a little larger between the sensor and the cam in the 207 heads rather than the stock heads.
