ej18 turbo pic
i'm posting this picture of my boost gauge for the people who want or have turbo'd their ej18. I've read someone say that you can't run more than 7 pounds of boost on the 1.8, but I know personally that it can handle more. Others say why bother just do a wrx swap it's now worth putting a turbo on. I know i've surprised alot of wrx's in my 1.8. Now i know everyones going to say it's going to blow up and whatnot, but it runs good and it's been this way for awhile. Even if it does blow up i'll just go to the junkyard and get another one for 300 bucks. i'm pushing the limits of the 1.8.

Okay that is very good.
How do you controle fuel under boost...? Have you OE injectors..? I have EJ2.0 N.A, whit a complete turbo setup, takeing from a WRX MY99. I just run 4,2psi and i got 182 HP @5500rpm and 250Nm @4700 rpm. I have OE injectors and a WRX fuel pump and WRX FPR. Have want to run 7psi soon.... :-) But 14 PSI I dont know yet... Dennis Denmark |

Great job,I've got a '96 1.8t.I'm still on stock injectors,running 7psi,fuel is controlled with a s-afc.
If your running 14psi it's time for me to turn it up,I just need bigger injectors. Alan |

Sounds like the EJ18 handles boost a lot better than an EJ25... Congrats on your 1.8T ... I'll be joining the turbo group very very soon but with another outcast, the 2.2-liter EJ22 N.A...

Just remember to have some timing control before you start turning the boost up like that. That is the key.

How much is the itc?
And how does the adjustable fuel pressure regulator work with the other management? Thats pretty much the exact setup im going for exept the management and intercooler... I already have an S-AFC. If I can run 8psi I would be happy... 14psi is an aweful lot |

the itc i picked up off ebay for 180 bucks. The fuel pressure regulator works fine. it's running 58 psi at idle which is plenty of fuel for my setup. drew

Hello scubydrew,
Can you share with us what your ITC settings are throughout the rpm range? How about your adjustable fpr setting too? Congrats on your setup. Sounds nice! Before putting my turbo back on, I plan on picking up another (last one stolen out of car) Apexi SAFC and an Apexi ITC. I've no adjustable fpr so I'm curious to know how yours is setup. I already have Nissan injectors and upgraded fuel pump. Thanks! |

yeah some guys have pushed the limits of the EJ18 with failure and well if you lower the compression a little on the pistons you can push a lot of boost...main reason being your walls are 9 mm thick.....holy cow....I plan on builing up my old EJ18 for a turbo project....but for now still tweeking on the new WRX engine.
Take it easy, Micah |
