Default Need helpers for bugeye to peanut eye swap in New London CT on 3-25 NEED WELDER

Myself and another nasioc Member will be doing the bugeye to peanut eye swap on the 25th of march in New LONDON CT. We will be transforming my 2002 psm wrx into a 2002 with a 2004 front end. WE will also be transforming a 2004 wrx into a bugeye 2004 wrx. We need some guys to help us with this swap and we especially need someone with a welder who can weld to help us with the radiator mounting bracket which is necessary for this swap to work. If any WRX enthusiasts can help please PM Me and I will greatly appreciate it. This shold be a fun day and with some good help should be a pretty fast swap. Please contact me asap thanks

wow, just joking around man. Im sure you could find a muffler shop who would weld up the brackets on the cheap. i think the hoses will hold it in place on the drive over.

um after welding you still have to seam-seal the spots along with prep/paint them so they do not rust.

Do you know what your getting into?

not really thats why I'm doing research on this. From what I've found all they say is the radiator support needs to be welded. no one goes into full detail. I did pm some people who have actually done this and hoping to hear from them soon. Do you know what steps are involved and how difficult it is?

try sending a message to Rokkit. I go to school with him at UCONN. He does most of the work on his car and he might be able to help you out.

This is what I was told:

You cannot just swap parts. The radiator support and headlight buckets are unique to each car and so they need to be swapped as well. The radiator support is the top piece you see and the headlight buckets are attached to this, the side apron unibody pieces and front of frame rails. So you need to drill all the spot welds remove all these pieces and reinstall on the other car.

Next you'll find out the headlight plugs and foglight plugs are different so you will end up having to cut wiring and reconnect on the other cars to make everything work.

I would not even think about doing this unless I had a week straight to work on both cars. Full time. Need time, space, lots of patients drilling spot welds and someone who can reweld everything back to gether. Then priming, repaint unibody pieces and reinstall all the bolt in pieces.
