Where to take my car for Warranty Service in Seattle/Tacoma...
Ok here is the deal...
Sometime back about 2 weeks I guess, I took my car to Carter to look at it because it was making some kind of "clunk" noise upon start up and had a rough idle... Well I was told it was "normal" and not to worry about it... NOW the "normal" clunk has gotten worse... and now it almost sounds like the car is backfiring on startup... inside it is really bad but not that noticable from outside.... I am confused, I can't track it down from outside either, I already attempted to do that... Sooo... Where do I take my car? My last trip to Carter resulted in a bill for $65+ for a rental car... Just for them to blow me off and tell me the car was "Normal" So Carter is out... Auburn had good reviews till recently when I heard about a nasty Warranty denial.... So I am not looking to go there... I have heard bad things about Chaplin's now... It seems like there is some bad comment about every one of them so far... any input here would be appreciated....

Ah the dreaded warranty game...I dont envy you.
I would get the regional warranty rep to look at your issue. They have the final say as to what it is and whether or not it is fixable under warranty. Skip the middleman and go straight to the decision maker...that's my advice. dp |

YEAH Jim I know Allllll about Dave's story... I would like to hear yours too, sometime I'll ask you about it!
As for me, if you open my hood or look under my car right now the only aftermarket parts you will see are a stainless radiator shroud for dress up and a STi type stainless air splitter in my STi hood scoop... other than that it is 100% STOCK.... So I better not have any issues with the Warranty! I just want to get it fixed prior to when I start the real warranty voiding mods lol I am not worried about voiding my warranty AFTER I start modding that's somewhat understandable (well to a pint) but until then they better cover the sheet that goes wrong!! The Mitsubishi crowd use to refer to the dealers as "Satan" It's starting to look like Subrau is No different... |

I don't know if they do it, but have you tried calling Smart Service and seeing if they'll do warranty service?

Chaplins are very good for service.
What problems have you heard of? See service advisor: Nikki Ask her to have Robbie work on your car. I'm pretty anal about my car but I feel very comfortable with them doing warranty work. Glenn |

I dunno about Penninsula. I was talking to Austin a long time ago and he said he was talking to the head tech about the intercooler. The head tech thought the intercooler was before the turbo. Maybe things have changed or the guy had a brain fart.
I took my car to Chaplins and had Robbie work on it (drivers window) and they were very nice to me. Didn't hassle me about my mods or list them on the invoice like Carter. |

Tacoma has been really nice to me.
Hanson in olympia is I honestly think the worst dealership I've ever encountered (long story short, they made up a story to kick my off their lot and lied to Subaru Customer Service). |

As for talking to the head mechanic at penninsula that doesn't sound like something Dan would say. i have had no problems with them and you all know how many problems i have with my car. Every dealership is going to have a couple dissatisfied customers. but this is a good way to find out how many and to what extent.

One experience with Walker's so far, and it was great. They did my clutch swap, and gave me a rental for as long as I needed it till I could get back down there from Whidbey. That was 1 full week.
