Wife recorded the 6pm KTVA 11 and there it was. I saw myself as I was the passenger during the out-of-car run shots.

"As for sports today.."
"The SCCA does is having a good start of the year with thier auto cross events"
"Here is some footage"
*shows 1 car do half a run*
"Now back to the normally scheduled 'bad news'"

I am interested, hopefully going... and yes, full of stories from last year.

I will say, it is VERY fun, to me worht the drive. Camping, wheel to wheel racing and Auto-x, what more coudl you ask for. Jake has some youtube videos up from nenana and soldotna air strips, and I'll say it is similar to that type of auto-x.

As long as I can afford it, I'll be going to the Tanacross. But, we'll see as money is super tight right now. If I can't make the Tanacross then I should at the very least make the SCCA event in Wasilla on Memorial day.

They run memorial and labor day weekends. Unless you overdrive the car or decide your car is prepped for wheel to wheel there shoudl not be a need for a "just in case"

I should Tanacross the Fit. It would get good mileage to/from, plus, it seems to need body work every few months anyways.

(I won't even consider this, but I'd like to try the Tanacross with my car)

If/when more info comes out on the event I can start a new Tanacross thread. Or anyone else can too, if you get the skinny on the May 26-27 event.

GUYS GUYS GUYS...... (and girl) I think you misunderstood.. Tanacross is an airfield and while the ASCC holds wheel to wheel racing for their organization, They also offer auto-x for us SCCA folk to join in on. These auto-x will be no more different than say elmendorf or AKRP courses, aside from being larger and faster. Still have to deal with cone-age, and still have only one car on course, still timed, still teched, etc...

Good clarification, Ben.

I'm interested in what happens when we're not auto-xing. Do we have to help with the wheel to wheel event, or just relax? Do we have to be there Saturday morning, or afternoon?

Hopefully I can get my answers and some others eventually. Hopefully I didn't make any of you confused. If I did, sorry.

Edit - More info should be out on Monday regarding the auto-x event in Tanacross.

And the best benefit of the autocross part is you just drive! No shagging cones! At least that's the way it was last Labor day. The road racers ask the autocrossers to volunteer to work corners during the road races (flagging for safety, not dodging cars for cone setup), and we road racers work the autocross part so it's just driving.

It seems to work well. The Alaska Sports Car Club is having a meeting Saturday night to hash out details.

Check out the alaska sports car club website for updates and entry info. I'd post the link, but the powers that be won't let me. I only have 4 posts.
