SCC WRX Tire Size Questions...
I was just reading the WRX test and noticed that all the cars seem to have odd sized tires on them. Is the stock WRX tire a 205/55/16? Here is the breakdown...
1) Bozz Performance - 235/45/17 Advan A038 on Volk TE37 17x7.5 2) M2 Performance - 225/45/17 Victoracer on Superleggara 17x7 3) Team Subaru - 225/45/17 Hoosier on Advan RG 17x7.5 4) Alex's Car - 245/45/17 P-Zero on Volk TE37 17x7.5 5) SPO I & II - 225/45/17 T1-S on Sparco Tarmac 17x7 First, these tires look sweet on the cars.....very wide, but still tucked under the fenders. I just want to know how a 245 or even a 225 for that matter, fits under the wheel well. Is the WRX that much larger under there than the old car? What offset is being used? I would like to put a bigger tire on my 16" rims for autox, but after seeing these, I wonder if I have more options than I thought. Also, these setups are taller than the factory tires, so theoretically the cars would have been faster with the stock overall height, correct? As if they are not fast enough....(the non-turbo owners all wimper in the corner). Anyway, very cool cars, nice numbers to compare mod effects....and most of all, more attention for the Scooby aftermarket....N/A and Forced!!! Doug

My car had 225's on. The author made a mistake.
Although, you can fit a much wider tire there. How about 255's? Yep. can be done. Few japanese tuners had 255's on their "shop" cars. I am sure a wheel size and offset play a critical role. Plus, the fenders HAVE to be rolled for sure. |

Did they proofread any of those articles? I noticed that they made not only tons of numerical errors, but they can't distinguish "roll" from "role," plus they spelled your last name wrong, didn't they?
