Exclamation New WRX World Record 1/4 Mile Run

Great news for subaru fans that do drag race their cars- Tony Rigoli set the new 4wd WRX world record 1/4 mile run in 10.5 @ 134MPH. I just noticed this on BPM Sport's website. www.bpmsports.com This just shows how much power these boxers are able to produce! And the amazing thing is- this car is still streetable! (Notice in the picture- NO cage.. STOCK seats.. STOCK glass/body pannels.. ) Just imagine that car with lighter weight!

Running in the 10's here in the states on a Drag Strip I believe would *require* the use of a roll cage due to NHRA, IHRA regulations.

So a roll cage would have to be in the car if you want to run those times on any strip int he states.

One the road? Anything goes, but you'll never be able to tell how fast you are on a drag strip without the cage.

But this happened in Australia, & I don't know if they have similar rules or not down under.

Cool

Yeah.. they must have different rules in Australia.. I don't think there was a cage in that car. I couldn't see any- although it's not a great pic.. But still.. 10.5 is a great run.. regardless of having a cage or not.

New England Dragway in Epping NH doesn't require a cage until you break 10 seconds. I'm not sure if there's a national "safety" level....
