I'll just make some bushings here at work...
I'm not driving three or four hrs roundtrip to the dealer, and I figure I can do much better than the "engineers" at subaru.
Youre right though, anything worth doin is worth doin your damned self!

but yea if you can get the bushing for free i rather do it myself..lmk

They would have been free if they fixed it, they said since I couldn't find a time to get it done with my work schedule for the last 2 months I would just have to buy the parts.

The issue is intermittent and doesn't really bother me a lot so I haven't fixed it yet. But they were like 2.50/each bushing and took 3 weeks to get (2 months ago anyway)

I was at the dealer today for an oil change. I had them check out the drivers side seat that was squeaking. They said they have to order 2 bushings for the seat that need to be replaced. On my invoice I saw TSB on the paper for the bushings. Anyone else had this done?

A few in this thread. I tried but they couldn't duplicate it. I bought the bushings myself, posted the tsb a few posts up, and have yet to actually install them

Awesome, thanks! Ill be trying this soon. Thought the squeaking came from the loose seat bolts, guess not!

Yep, same scenario with me today. Will be getting called when the parts come in to have them fix it.

Went to the dealership for my 15k mile service and free oil change. They added the parts from the TSB and that fixed the seat squeak.

They would not fix the passenger seat until it starts to squeek. I dont really understand why if its made from the same construction.

I had to leave the car there for about 3 hrs while they had an upholstery shop do the change of the back seat. the rental was a 2012 Maxima...nice powerful car, but I can see the gas gauge moving closer to E everytime I step on the gas.

That sounds exactly like my seats. God I miss the days when swapping seats was even possible...
I long for a nice pair of Recaros.

I was looking at my seat today. I really don't see how to get to the hooks to put my bushings in. I can see where the paper has worn away, but I don't understand the instructions I the first page on how to actually get to them

Id imagine you pop the hook off and put the bushing where the hook rides. The tech that did mine bloodied his hands... I have a new seatback and the tsb done and its even worse now. Plus the seams of the upholstry are fraying from the stretching when he removed/installed it.
With the seat stripped to the bare metal frame, I dont see how the bushings would be hard to put on. Can you post a pic or two?

The steel edges inside the seat are insanely sharp. They have not been rolled or deburred AT ALL. Be VERY careful sticking your hands inside.

The tech tht worked on mine learned that the hard way. He "invented" the tsb. They were only gonna do a seatback replacement and he thought it was pretty lame how the seats were constructed, so he made some little bushing type pieces anywhere the hooks touched the frame.

Did I mention how badly I wanna swap out these seats?

it isn't just the squeaking, which comes and goes and really doesn't bother me. I have the parts though, so i might as well put them in.

the part that is really starting to bother me is either
a. lack of lumbar support or
b. too much lumbar support

it feels like there is someone in the back seat constantly jamming their knees into the back of my seat.

Interesting. I've not heard of that complaint before from 2012+ Impreza owners.

i'm kinda annoyed by this picture. it appears the wrx seats have a plastic covering over the metal, where ours is just crappy paper
