Default LED screw light

I am thinking of installing one of these lights on my center console between my armrest and the switches for the seat heaters to illuminate the second cupholder and center console.

LED screw light

My question is, does anyone know how bright these are? If they are really bright I was going to power them off of my ashtray light, so they will dim and brighten with my dash lights, since I don't drive with my dash lights brightened all the way. And if not, then I will power them off of my headlight switch.

Any comments would be appreciated, or if anyone has a easier way, please let me know.

Looks pretty bright in the pic. The latest "superbright" LEDs are just that.
It may not take well to dimming though. LEDs don't dim down the same as light bulbs, the brightness will decrease as the voltage is lowered but not as much as a bulb would. Also the LED itself is not a 12V device, it actually operates at a lower voltage (1.5V) and there is an internal dropping resistor in the bulb assembly that allows it to be directly connected to 12V.

Does anybody have any other ideas on how to light up the center console that would give me a clean install look?
