There is no 'real power' in rs/2.5i's unless you've done a lot more than listed.
Stock is roughly 115 whp give or take at 1/3 loss so your telling us these mods you've done gained you nearly 80 hp? Last edited by alt14; 10-01-2012 at 12:22 AM. |

Those are mods done when the dyno was done . And no I didn't say whp some dumb asses just think wheel . my power gain is roughly 35+ whp with about 3 grand .. Now my engine is about 80% built almost 4 grand . Total in 6 grand
For those who don't know what there talking about and only got an intake in there cars stop being negative that **** don't get u no place haha. Willing to drive 200 miles outside of Washington to run it against people in track I ant got nothing to hide. |

Yeah me too. The parts that are actually still in my car only total about $900 and I'm making the same numbers this guy claims to be. Only difference is that I have personally tested the parts this guy has on his car and I know they don't make the power he's claiming.

Valid point. All told, I've got about $9k (wholesale) in parts in my car. If you count the parts I've thrown out, I'm somewhere around $15k probably. If someone brought a car to me for the same work (I opened my own shop about a year and a half ago), I'd have about $60k in labor into the car at this point. That's counting everything, though, all the experimentation, repairs after I blew **** up, etc. If I just went straight to the final product, I could probably do it again for about $9k in parts and $10k in labor. That's engine, driveline, and suspension.
Note to others on the forum: If you haven't already added up how much you've spent on your car, DON'T. |

900 bucks bro that's just in the tune intake pully ( note I have a full pully system and belts)
And no not with labor.. If u guys don't know it's fairy simple to get power from your engine if u know what ur doing and what to put into it not just throw **** on it like most people do which is point less and they cry about how they car doesn't pull or has no power game . Here u guys go Pistons Headers Valves springs Bored Tune Pully system Str8 pipe with cat Intake Fuel injectors 650cc Pumps Spark plugs and wired Waiting on cam and simple upgrades That makes power during dyno it was about 70% built So yea see u guys at track days |

$650- best header on the market $180- cams $5- best intake on the market $15- tune (KKL cable is the only cost, software is free). That's actually only $850. Not even $900. And it's been dynoed above what you're claiming. Now, to add the other things you're claiming: $450- pistons $500- valves, springs, retainers, keepers $90- valve job to match new valves to seats $75- block bored and honed to match new pistons $80- Injectors from a STi (will flow more than you'll ever need for NA) By the way, the pulley isn't a power-adder and it's not a ****ing straight pipe if it has a cat it in. Plugs and wires are a maintenance item, not go-fast parts. Unless you're significantly raising the stock redline, the valves and springs are a waste of money. In fact, given the mods you list, they're a waste of money because raising the redline to the point that the valves start floating due to the low spring rate is going to be ****ing pointless because the engine isn't breathing up there. |

Go read his intake thread, which is a sticky and awesome.
But I would like to know how you built a hybrid for $5. I think I'm in for about $50. |

Again, if you are paying significantly more than that for your parts, the shop you're working with is ripping you off. Quote:
My car is a development mule. It's in a constant state of looking like crap because there's always a new dev part or prototype on it. Hell, I have that engine in and out so often I've actually worn out the threads in the bellhousing that hold the engine to the tranny. |

6k? You could have probably swapped for a turbo engine, you could have actually done a supercharger or turbo charger with some reinforced parts with a safe tune for that..
