Quick question about SDC. I think this was answered awhile ago and I tried going back through the thread but couldn't find anything. I know SDC doesn't do VON numbers but do they get the VIN when the car is leaving the port in Japan or do they get it when the car hits the port in the US?

Only asking because I'm trying to time it right to sell my current car without leaving myself stranded for a month with no DD.

Yeah that's what I figured... Just wanted to make sure.

This could get interesting with the timing of selling my car.

Have you checked the price of it via trade-in versus selling it privately? You might come out better trading it due to the tax credit and you don't have to deal with selling a car privately.

Yeah all the dealers I went to said they couldn't give me anything and one told me the max he could do is $800.

It's an 01 Legacy GT Limited with 250k miles and 75k on a rebuilt motor. It blue books between $3,500-$4,500 private party so I'm going to try and sell it myself. I would only want like $3k for it to put towards my down payment.

if you can afford the payment without the downpayment for a few months just wait til you get the car, and when you do finally sell it put that money down on the car (it will usually lower your payment down, it has on past loans ive had)

Yeah I can afford it without selling it, I just wanted to put an even bigger down payment at the start. I'll have to ask my bank if it will lower the payments or just reduce the months of the loan. My buddy did the exact same thing -tried to put a big chunk of money down after he took the loan out but they would only reduced his months owed and he would have still had the same monthly payment.

Worse case, I sell it a few weeks earlier then I wanted to and my and my g/f use one car....not a huge deal.

its worked with smaller loans for me, but on my friends loan on his TL his payments ended up being around $100 a month minimum putting atleast 100 more a month for like 3 years
and yeah, i understand, im waiting on a settlement on my last car for my downpayment before i order.

Did anyone purchase an extended warranty when they picked up the car? I got a Gold Plus $0 deductible 7/70k plan for ~$1,850. I have until the end of February to cancel it. Was this a good price and is it worth it? For the record, I don't plan on doing any mods to it and I don't drive like a complete jackass, side note, this is my first manual car, so I'm learning on it...

Extended worries are ripoffs... Too many clauses that void you out. You are better off sticking that money into a small mutual fund

Warranty won't cover a clutch that you burn out. It'll only cover a manufacturers defect.

Worth is up to you to decide. When I had a 2011, I ended up canceling the extended warranty that I was talked into.

I got WRB. From what I gather from this thread, there are 6, maybe 7 other WRB 2013s in the world.
