Great test! We need more contributors like you Please add the new Cosworth cams with no other changes and report back. My guess is big gains over 5000rpm and little to no loss down low.

Nice test but as Clark mentioned the intake manifold isn't the bottle neck at those power levels so it's no surprise it's just a pretty (and expensive) intake manifold on that application.
I did tune one recently on with a full Cosworth long block and it's clear this manifold doesn't show it's worth until after 6k rpm. This feeling was backed up with the Hydra EMS as you could see the dramatic fuel increases above 6k rpm which remained flat until 8000 rpm. Other problems with this particular car have prevented me from dyno tuning it yet but it will be interesting to see how it compares to the Subaru (non STi) manifold I run on our Time Attack STi. Comparing the Subaru RS manifold I run to the stock STi manifold there is a loss of bottom end for a gain from 5500 rpm to redline. It will be interesting to see if the Cosworth manifold has any gains over a much more affortable Subaru RS manifold. At least neither will crack Thanks, Phil Element Tuning |

Agreed.. It will be nice to find out when we test this on high hp cars.
My slightly modified JDM STI manifold Flows almost 1300CFM on the bench.. The manifold wont be a flow limit. However, Tuning the plenum size and runner length will change the power band. Clark |

Newer Subaru manifolds have much larger runner DIA than almost all other stock manifolds, and thus will flow much more than comparable stock manifolds. They could use a little more plenum, larger TB, and flow balancing.

What would you say is the most restrictive part with a similar setup on the EJ257? Heads? Cams?

Thanks alot for the good data. I suspect as said before until you are pushing serious amounts of boost and whp levels are creeping past 500 will this part truly shine.

My only issue with "flow" vs real world is that on the car these manifolds are being pressurized. The flow test works well to replicate a N/A setup that is sucking air through an intake but I feel that the numbers may change with boost, especially with cylinder distribution.
Someone should put together a test with a 500-600whp car and do a run with the stock intake then one with a cosworth intake, or long runner, etc etc. THAT would be interesting to see. |

The cosworth manifold provides a big power gain at high rpm on higher hp cars. I have tested them back to back. Power over 6000 is higher.

Yeah. 600+. At 700whp with good heads and cams, power can be made out to 8500 on the 2.5 with the manifold. At that rpm, the gains are huge.
