Default I finally bought one....the big daddy of radar detectors..

teh V1!!!

yeah I know everybody else here has one but I'm stoked! I never seemed to have a reason to get one since I don't speed around to much but this upcoming road trip would be very boring at 70mph thru the state of Utah.

If from a private seller, send the seller a certified check for half again as much as the cost and tell him to send you the difference before it clears!

My V1 has been sitting in a box for about 2 years now... I just don't use it anymore. Instant-on will get you everytime. Besides, speedlimits on the interstates around here are high enough that speeding isn't really an issue anymore.

However, if you are going to get a radar detector, the V1 is the best I've ever used.

Congratulations on the V1. I have one too, and it has saved me several times alrready. Not just on highways, but on smaller local streets.

Is the laser scrambler legal? It's probably not, or doesn't work, or is giving you canc4r while you drive.

Full_Clip doubts the scrambler works.

My V1 is messed up. I left it in the car (sunny day about 85 degrees) for a whole day while at class and came back. Hasn't worked the same ever since. It picks up from behind fine but forward detection (where the sun was hitting it through the windshield) is pretty much borked. Can I send it in and have them fix it or am I screwed?

It is legal here in Illinois. It is disabled by default so it gets through a touch easier with police departments. You enable it through a menu option and takes about 5 seconds to get to the option. The theory of operation: when it detects laser it gives off this really shrill scream and starts saying "shifting, shifting" the idea is once you hear that noise you hit your hooks till your of acceptable speed, double tap the mute button and the shifting is turned off.

I have seen a radar gun show blank when shooting a passport srx equipped 911 twin turbo

Yep, 90 seems like 35 on teh I-states out west. Oh, and don't worry much about laser on the open roads..they have to get a reading within 1/4 mile and there aren't very many places to hide.

If you're taking I-70 across Utah try to get your check engine light to come on when you're doing a speed in excess of what the speedometer will display when you're in the no services next 100 miles stretch. Thats a lot of fun. Although much easier when the speedo only goes to 85. Its also fun to drive in a torrential downpor in southern Utah at night when its only you and the truckers on the road and if you get too close to one of them the only way to know where the road is is staying a constant distance from them and hoping they follow the road.

I'm taking a few different routes. I'm driving to Colorado and the way there i'm going thru AZ, NM and then up to CO. Way back it's UT, NV and then home. The killers are the desert from CA to Flagstaff, AZ....then AZ to NM. Way back it just sucks the whole way. UT and NV are hell.

I would think that it may not unless the lexus was coming up behind you, it is a passive system. Man that is going to be interesting to test

you'll learn to hate the Nissan Murano/Infiniti FX-35 and LExus products, also watch out if you have XM, you are going to need a nice antenna
