Default Rare 555 vlimited RA

Hello everyone, I'm Jason from vancouver canada, been a long time lurker but not new to subarus. Just wanted to share a rare car that I recently picked up - 98 wrx sti 555 vlimited type RA that could possibly be the rarest of this model in the world.

I absolutely love working on cars and started out honda's which I've had for about 6 years, built a few turbo and N/A setups but I eventually got tired of of the fwd platform and figured it was time to move on. I've always been a fan of subaru's and it was a no brainer when I went with the GC chasis over all the other impreza models since I've always preferred a lightweight shell and older cars that don't have any computerized driving assist technology which I believe gives the best driving experience. The car was a 97 wrx sti that I had for 1.5 years which was used as daily, track, rally, and autox car. I had done many things on the car and had worked on it for countless hours replacing things like shifter joints, axles, brakes, etc etc but I had to let it go when I saw this ultra rare omgwtfbbq gem for sale. This was in her glory days before I sold her:

daily mode

race mode

a 4 minute track day vid (play in HD)
https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v...34591412929585

Moving on to the new toy:

There are many v1-v5 that has been imported here in the recent years (we have a 15yr rule) so I'm well aware and have seen the many different versions of the type r, ra, wrc limited, vlimited, etc etc but the one I got just takes the icing on the cake. So what makes the car so rare you may ask?

The car only had 14xx kms when it landed here. The history behind the car as I was told was that it lived most of its life in a private museum, which was 1 of the 100's of cars that the old owner had. Apparently, he was some kind of wealthy person who had tons of cars in his private collection but he passed away so the family decided to sell them all afterwards. I'll let the pics do most of the talking, but I'll start with the ones which I believe makes this car unique vs all the other v4 vlimited 555 type RA's that I've seen around – I think most of these unique items have been specifically requested to subaru by the old owner prior to purchase since he was a car collector and most likely had special connections.

First of all, the kms of course. Racked up some since then from 14xx kms because it is currently my daily, but still quite possibly the lowest one in the planet of this model

Leg/knee guards for racing. Mounted on the door and center panel. First time I've seen this equipped from factory for this model and other gc8 models I've seen around. Also power window equipped. (not all RA had power windows)

STI shifter guide on center trim. Also haven't seen this on this model or any other gc8

WRC titanium shift knob. I believe this was installed from factory, which explains why they put a shifter guide right below

Paint matching wiper arms and wiper blades from factory. I know 2 local people here also with a v4 555 vlimited type ra but theirs is just the regular black

Factory custom fitted rear speakers. Again, the 2 people that I know who owns the same car did not come with rear speakers and from what I've read before this specific model doesn't usually come with rear speakers. I think these were installed from factory as there were no splicing in the harness of any kind that I noticed when replaced the jdm head unit.

JAAA certified

STI valve caps! Not sure if all models came with these to be honest, maybe someone can confirm?
On a side note, these 2 pot rears make such a huge difference vs the regular non 2 pots

and now onto the rest of the pics...

Dinner is served! Engine bay you can eat out of

Lamco oem goodies

OMG so clean..

Sprays and fogs

Shiny ass

Last but not least, a matching 555 plate!

I hope everyone enjoyed this short post. I'm looking forward to be an active contributor in the forums as I'm a diy type of guy and I hope to meet some of the members here who live locally in the same area as me

Cheers!
Jason

They are nice... yes... but you've got to stop with this 'best on the planet' crap.

Is the track pick from The Ridge in WA? The copy of Laguna's carousel looks familiar***8230;such a great track.

Nice looking cars too. Not sure about "the rarest on the planet" but certainly a rare, very clean low mileage vehicle. Most likely a car only rally enthusiasts and Subaru fans would get excited about. Certainly a nice find and badass car to own and drive.

great looking car, but you might want to look into that steering wheel being on the wrong side of the car.

Ah I wondered who bought this.. watched this one on craigslist for a while there, but felt it hard to justify paying ~25k (if I remember correctly thats roughly what he was asking), personally would have kept that '97 and continued with a complete shortblock build, big turbo, etc.. for that kind of money. But to each his own, and a very clean pick up none the less. Hope to see it around town!

yep I didn't even know that they were available for gc's. They actually snug pretty nicely. Does any other impreza models have it?

Thanks Gallo. I'm still actually breaking it in and taking it easy until 5000 kms then I'll be replacing the timing belt with a gates racing one
