Is there any way that the rear fog light can be wired up so that the light is not always on full intensity? I want the intensity to be the same as the brake lights when Im not pressing on the brakes and having them light up to the same brightness as the brake lights when they are pressed

You'd need a dual filament bulb for that to happen and some minor wiring but yes, it is possible.

Im actually in the process of making a custom set up for the rear fog light. I have already ordered an extra lower grille so that I can use my current one as a test on. So far, so good!. and just to give you and Idea this is what it will look like>>>>>>>>

2 that will light up when you brake only and obviously 2 that will light up when in reverse. Only thing I am missing now is a cap/cover for the stock location of the fog light. That is what will hold and house the lights. Will have a friend make me one on the c&c machine out of aluminum with holes already cut out.

So, I want to order the rear foglight kit soon.

I want to run this as a foglight also. not tapped into the break/running lights like some have. I'm just not the best with wiring, so i have a few questions.

My '12 doesn't have front fogs, and i don't plan on every getting any. But could i purchase the USDM stalk that has the foglight switch, and the relay that's meant for the front fogs, and wire the rear fog to that?

I have since been doing some projects on my old Lexus, wiring up some stuff (JDM power folding mirrors of course hahaha) and in the process I discovered a new way I would do the rear fog.

Check this programmable unit out, it is pretty sweet: http://www.amazon.com/PAC-TR7-Universal-Trigger-Module/dp/B0002J22BO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1355717151&sr=8-1&keywords=tr-7 It is made for basically translating some input to some different type of output. It can take a momentary input and turn that into a latch-on/latch-off toggle. Problem SOLVED.

You should be able to do that. You will cut the wire that the fog switch grounds to to tell the BIU to turn on the fogs. You can then use that wire to ground your relay coil input to turn the rear fog on.

Was at the dealer looking for rear fog parts for a 2013 Impeza sport while looking . The parts guy mentioned the the wiring harness might be different for a US car vs a UK one and custom wiring might be needed to install this light.
Can anyone confirm this?

About 40 pages back it was confirmed that you have to wire your own fog light.

Build for the custom rear fog light goes into production this afternoon. As soon as I leave work. I have all the pieces I need to mock it up and make a working prototype. Unfortunately, it will only be 4 brake activated leds for right now because I haven't gotten my hands on the white led's for the reverse lights. But good thing is it will just be a matter of switching the leds out once they come in. Ill already have the wiring run and ready. Will post pics of the rough set up as I go along.

Hey guys,
I'm a noob with Subarus and Nasioc. I don't know if this is the proper place to post this. But I don't want to start a new thread very similar to this.

Basically my idea is to get the JDM foglight but wire in a a motorcycle flashing brake light module. This would mean that when the brake lights are activated the JDM fog would flash say three times and then maintain a steady light until the brakes were released and depressed again. Do you guys think this is feasible? i have been looking into several modules but am a little unsure which to get.

Thanks gents,

Thanks gents,
When I saw this thread, I thought about doing the same thing. I used to have one of those break lights on my Street Glide and I think it adds a ton of safety value.

H4510FJ000 and its not cheap $32.21 for it! but to me OEM is worth it.

I will post pictures when I get home, they recommend using a relay and harness which I am making up this weekend. The pins on the switch are very small, so its gonna be necessary to look for a connector as well. It appears to be that my Limited happens to have the connector taped up on the back of the switch location panel on the dashboard. Weird thing cause I was about to source the connector plug on the web, but I guess there is no need to do that anymore. Now all I need to do is add relay to the actual feed going back to the Rear Fog Light Assembly.

Awesome news! Can you post a picture of the dashboard where the switch will be located? Is it going to fit in a preexisting slot?

You going have to cut out the empty space where the switch is going to be mounted on the dash or order the bezel with pre-cut slots for the Foglight switch & the traction control switch. I will post more pictures as soon as I come out the dealer. It's item #5 on the diagram.

This entire piece must come off first then unscrew the Philip screw to loosen the dash mounting where the empty slot is located if you try to pry it off you will brake it.

This is the screw that must remove or you gonna break that clip. which you really do not need, also I would remove the entire panel first then the wires are long enough for you to unplug the connectors.

Here is where it's going to be mounted on the dash & mine has the slot, but it's not a cap that you just pop out. It has to be cut. This panel has a screw from the back, so don't try to pry it out, you will BREAK THE PLASTIC if you do not remove the screw from the back.

Now here is the front Foglight symbol on the cluster that lights up when I push the button on the switch I just plugged in. So, it's wired together with the one on the stalk, I just need to cut the wire that grounds the relay and add my own independent relay and route it to the REAR fog light. In other countries the REAR fog light symbol on the cluster would be yellow and the wiggly lines would be to the right instead of the left which symbolize the rear of the car. Anyone here on the forums from another country or region that have this option on their impreza, please send me a picture of the symbol on their cluster, curious to see where it's located.

The 4 wire plug/connector was there already behind my dash taped to the illumination switch. Here is a picture of it here. If you have a limited like mine, all you need to do is cut the 2nd wire and add a relay to it, feed it to the rear fog light, I will post more pictures when I get more time.

Talking The Correct Bezel for ADDING foglight switch.

This is the NEW BEZEL I ordered from Hueberger Subaru and here is the part number : 83472FJ010VH. Noticed it has the pre-cut holes for the other switches too. It was CHEAP only $7.50 wow!

Okay below is the bezel with the switches and caps moved over to the NEW bezel.

This is from the 2014 Forester panel here: Same exact part number as my 2012 limited, LoL!!!

Default ZURCALED12 Questions regarding rear fog light and the install of it

can i ask where and how much was the rear fog light?? do you know if it is possible to connect the rear fog light if I have the front one installed?

my front fogs were installed after i bought the car and is setup like the button you are installing. do you have the front setup with the rear on one button or do you have your front on the stalk?

i want to add the rear fog to my car....also its only a constant on or off mode right? it doesnt operate like the brake lights do?

The part numbers:

Lens Housing - 84913FG420
Nut - 902510032 (Need 2)
Bolt - 901000344 (Need 2)
Bulb - 84920KE010
Wiring Assembly - 84981FG050
Clip - 909205126 (They sent me 4 but only used 1)
Plug Hole - 90321TA010 (I did not use this part)

Also check out this website too. They have a complete install.

These guys also have it, but keep trying el cajon ask for Brian and you can get it for $125.00 too.

I wired a relay separate from the FRONT, My car is the limited so the FRONT foglights are controlled from the STALK. The switch that I bought was wired to the relay that I added and is running to the REAR FOGLIGHT, so my dashboard mounted switch is just for the REAR FOGLIGHT.

Here is how I turn my FRONT FOG LIGHTS on from the stalk on the turn signal switch.
