Question ECU choice help... big power privatire setup

hey guys i have a utec and remote map switch sittin here already but from some of the posts i've gotten the initail impression my setup might be "too big" to use the utec? just kind of the impression i've gotten from some comments posted by other members, newbies to specialists. it's a 02 wrx with a fully built sti short block, fully ported head, valves, cams, etc etc my 06 5spd is going to be ppg'd soon, 1000cc ultimate racing injectors(most likely going 1600's tho), buschur pump(same one in their 8 sec evo), agency rails, 46mm ext gate, and a 37r. it is going to be tuned to e85 for street and c16 for track. i have NOT tuned a car myself, i will NOT be tuning my own car, i have a few local friends who tune and have done many cars over 500 whp on non race gas tunes with aem, chrome, and dsm link to mention a few. My closest friend of the tuner group looked at the software and said it's close to dsm link and he will certainly tune it for me. what are some opionions on utec vs accessport? next fall it will most likely go bigger again and get a hydra but for now i have to do utec or ap. i'd like to have launch control-not sure if ap has it. i had an ap stg 2+ setup before the craziness started and was happy with the ap at that point. thanks for any opinions, personal experiences, and helpful responses.

I'm pretty unfamiliar with the AP add-ons, but to do anything with the AP on your setup you'd need to find a Protuner or get the StreetTuner software. I don't know if the StreetTuner software would be able to customize everything that you may need done.

Launch control with the UTEC works, but not quite right (at least with my '05 STi UTEC). Check out this post.

I can't see why the UTEC wouldn't be able to take care of you. In terms of professional tuning, I had mine done at P&L in Chicago and I was very happy with the work done.

the Street Tuner aparently still doesn't work with the AP2's.

the UTEC's are very powerful, and assuming you run speed density and get a MAP capable of seeing over 25lbs of boost, it can make a lot of power. It's just... querky. For example, you WILL get missfire codes up the ass during cold starts, and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it. But there's no doubt it can make the power.

Bottom line, if there's a protuner around you, and you don't mind not being able to do your own tuning, then the AP is probably a better bet. But if you don't have a protuner near you, the UTEC is a better solution for what you're after.

well i want to do a hydra next fall but cant swing it with everything right now so that leaves me with needing to run an ap or utec for now. al at dynoflash said he'll come out and tune it for me.

A 37r is going to max your maf sensor real fast and it will also max your map sensor past 23 psi. It sounds like you have alot of nice parts, I would put in a standalone.

While I love the UTEC and it will mostly work for your setup I suggest a standalone for you. The injectors will be hard to control with the UTEC if you go above 1000cc.

OpenECU is great if you have somebody to tune. Otherwise, UTEC, until AP2 handles StreetTuner.
