Default gas smell TSB- repaired and still smelling it!

had the work done on my '02 WRX at the dealer (who was completely unaware of the TSB until i handed it to them!) about a month ago. still some odor coming through the vents, but i figured they didn't clean the area up and there might have been some residual odor. the WRX is my wife's car, and a couple days ago she said its starting to stink really bad again. i took the car out last night, and sure enough, its like a frickin' gas chamber again.

the dealer admitted our WRX was the first one they did the fix to. how could they have screwed it up? do i take it back to them, or try another dealer?

anyone else have this come back after getting the "fix"?

If you have another dealer near you, it's can't hurt to try your luck with them. I'm personally not surprised in the least that tightening a loose fuel line is beyond the grasp of *some* of these monkeys That's your TSB, right? You could do it yourself if you like, I belive it's just a hose clamp issue. Too much saki at lunch on the old assy. line...Bonzi! Bonzi!

Get it fixed tho! Some people like flames ON WRX's but not IN them!

it's going back Friday. they were willing to take me tomorrow, though! its usually a week or so before i've ever got an appointment. i guess they don't want to buy back a charred WRX. i wouldn't mind trading up for an STi if this thing burns to the ground before then.

How are you even still having the fuel smell? It doesn't manifest itself unless temps are below like 14 degrees or something. It hasn't gotten even below freezing in weeks.

If you are still smelling fuel, then something else is screwed up.

Mine smelled of fuel well above 14 degrees farenheit. When they do the repair they have to take the entire intake manifold off. Any number of things could be go wrong on re-assembly. I had to take my car back 4 times. It still runs rougher than before they did the repair.
