Got a good deal from Ebay The seller is a salvaged auto place. That's why I had to buy the HU despite there wasn't any method to install it yet. Luckily we have the amazing SVXdc with all his electrical knowledge.

Well you can go aftermarket and get the Axxess SWC to keep all SWC functionality. Contact SVXdc he has updated ASWC modules and all the harness you need to install an aftermarket HU for sale. I was going to go aftermarket (which I should have, easier to install) but I saw this and got a good deal on it after talking to the seller so I went ahead with this.

Yes you will be able to use the bluetooth controls on the SWC. All swc function is retained. Assuming you got the HU that is capable of bluetooth calling and stuff.

Sorry I never got back to your PM's, glad to see you got this installed and working! Told ya you'd need the Nav bezel for a cleaner fit ...looks good though! Guess I need to see about getting the stuff from @SVXdc to get mine installed as well...though I think I read somewhere from him that mine might require a bit more work since it came from a BRZ and not a WRX (different harness required I think.)

It should be the same harness for most if not everything. Just shoot him an email and he'll get back with you all the part he has for you and all the parts you need to get on your own. (probably will have to wait on the USB port like me)

I may have the FT HU, GPS antenna and amp for sale shortly. Got this to retrofit into my 14 Forester and that 28 pin cable is impossible to find. I did reach out to SVXdc and he was very helpful. Unfortunately he does not have a supplier for the 28 pin cable. I was not lucky enough to pay 375. I paid 499 plus 40 shipping. The FT has not arrived yet but I've done enough recon to know this swap is not for me without that 28 pin connector.

Subscribed, I'm looking to upgrade my non navi 2013 STI to the OEM Navi. Im hoping all I need is the Navi head unit since I have a 2013. I have not found a good deal on the OEM Navi yet so I am still looking for one of those too.

The 28 pin connector appears to be common to Toyota 2012 Camery Hybrid (pin out is almost certainly different, but connector appears to be the same)

Below is a link to a company claiming they make the 28 pin connector. They were initially very responsive but I decided to go aftermarket and sold my FT and never followed up. I think they want you to buy in bulk but it seemed like they were willing to ship me one for testing.

Update:

SVXDc has found more info on the USB harness. Unfortunate he has not yet to be able to obtain the plug to match the OEM socket. But he found the part numbers to get the harness from Toyota or Subaru. I'll just go with the harness from Toyota since it is a bit cheaper. Not having USB port is kinda annoying.

I have 5 more of the USB to Hirose connectors all soldered up ready for anyone who wants one..each one soldered, continuity tested to ensure connection/no shorts, hot glued, then heat shrink wrapped. just PM me if interested.

That isn't the correct one. You need to connect the hirose socket to the Toyota style USB MX49 socket so you can plug it into the back of the HU then connect it to the usb harness already exist on your car to use the OEM USB port. Here are some picture of what the socket looks like:

I missed your post. But SVXdc has told me couple weeks ago he might have found a supplier for those 28 pin connector and possibly even the USB connector. So I'd try to contact him again if I was you.

Hey, luan87us

Did your car have steering wheel controls originally? If so, did you retain them with the new HU? I am researching this and it seems that the FT nav uses different resistance values than the standard subaru ones, so I'm wondering if you worked around that.

it appears to be the same for all trims of Impreza with SWC... according to the service manual.

My car did come with SWC and they worked just fine.

PS: Finally got my USB working. The USB function on this HU is much better than the standard HU. I can browse my folders and such.

I have just bought the Kenwood HU Navi, and really want to keep the usb media hub so it works with the Kenwood HU. So it just worked once it was plugged in?

It interesting the Mic worked, everyone is telling me it won't work. I am totally confused about what to mic to buy and even how to plug it in? The other bits seem simple, apart from the VSS. Does that need to be done? and how is it done? anyone got photos or a DIY install showing the VSS particularly?

Help an Aussie out !!! lol
