Default Introducing AccessFLASH - An alternative to Open Source- Only at COBB Retail stores!

The COBB Tuning AccessPORT is a feature rich tuning tool that allows enthusiasts to change maps, monitor and record engine and performance data, and adds special motor functions like flat foot shifting and launch control.

However, some enthusiasts need a more cost effective tuning solution that does not offer a similarly impressive list of features. For these enthusiast who desire a COBB Tuning quality calibration we now offer a new product called AccessFLASH.

AccessFLASH tools allow a COBB Tuning calibrator to create a custom tune without the need to purchase an AccessPORT. Because of this, AccessFLASH offers a very competitive price for the budget conscious enthusiast looking for the absolute best calibration and an outstanding customer service experience. AccessFLASH is a lower cost, lower feature custom tuning option that some COBB Tuning customers desire.

COBB Tuning retail stores in Austin Texas, Plano Texas, SoCal (Fountain Valley, CA) and Surgline (Portland Oregon) are the only places you can find AccessFLASH for your performance Subaru.

What is AccessFLASH?

AccessFLASH is an ECU reflash that most enthusiasts are familiar with. Our tuners will interface with your vehicle's stock ECU and "flash" on a new calibration optimized for your car, modifications and fuel type. AccessFlash is used to create a custom tune for your vehicle on a COBB Tuning dyno.

What do I get?

AccessFLASH is used to create a suite of calibrations for your car on the dyno. At the end of the tuning session a high-performance map that has been optimized for your unique vehicle is flashed onto the car. All custom calibrations are AccessPORT compatible, so its easy to upgrade your custom tune to use an AccessPORT at a later date. There's no need to settle for just one map because you'll be able to change maps at will once you upgrade to the AccessPORT.

How Much does it cost?

AccessFLASH with custom dyno tuning for your vehicle starts at $395. This is the FULL price for a custom dyno tune, completely out the door starting at $395 from COBB Tuning!**

What if I want to Upgrade to an AccessPORT?

COBB Tuning has you covered here! Users with AccessFLASH will be credited $100 of their AccessFLASH purchase price towards the cost of an AccessPORT. Your local retail store will load your custom maps to the AccessPORT and load it to your vehicle.

What vehicles is AccessFLASH Available For?

At this time, AccessFLASH is only available for turbocharged Subarus currently supported by COBB Tuning.

COBB Tuning provides industry standard setting support after your custom tune. We'll work with you to diagnose any issues or specific concerns before AND after your custom tune. COBB Tuning wants to earn your business for your current AND future projects.

** Pricing varies by application, car configuration, and retail store location.

This is a great price for an on-the-dyno tune, even compared to OS!

Great job COBB!

The tuning concepts are really similar. However, the final tune flashed onto the car is compatible with the Cobb AccessPORT. So, if at a later date the customer wants up upgrade to the AP to get things like, data logging, flat foot shifting, launch control, the ability to change mapping, they can do so. The Cobb Store will simply load the maps onto their AccessPORT and install it on their car.

With AccessFLASH tuning you get the customer support that Cobb Stores offer along with the very well researched and documented ECU discovery that supports all Cobb Tuning ECU tuning tools.

This product is a direct response to our retail shop customers. Some of these customers are willing to settle for a much less feature rich tuning solution so that their performance needs fit into a more constrained budget. They get the same quality custom tune offered at any Cobb Store but they can do so at a price that better fits their budget.

this sounds good...and with a $100 rebate towards an accessPORT I will be able to get a tune for my car then map change-ability later when I have some more coin...very smart buisness decision...

I am assuming they are using their own proprietary open source flashing software as opposed to using romraider or others. I am also assuming that they are branching out their tuning options as a lot of folks dont want to pay 575 for the AP then 300+ for the dyno tune. Accessflash gives them the ability to open source tune your car on a dyno for an affordable price. I think its a good addition to Cobb. I haven't ever found the need for an AP but from what I have read over the years, Tim Bailey is one of the best but only tunes if you have an AP. Now he will be able to tune without an AP. I originally got my tune from Torqued performance. It's a generic OTS map.

I think that sometime in the summer, I will make the trip and get the car tuned by Tim. I am eager to meet him and see his work in action. I hear he is a super guy.

I look forward to working with you. If you should ever decide to get an AccessPORT we can just load your maps and ship it to you.... You can just install it over your AccessFLASH tune. I'll make several different maps while you're here for the dyno tune. With AccessFLASH you'll need to choose just one of those tunes for your car. however, if you upgrade to the AccessPORT you can run any of the tunes you like.

Best regards and thanks for the kind words.

James,

If you're going to spend the money on a GT-R then I'd think that another 800-1000 for an AP and tune isn't going to break the bank. Just saying..

Will this option ever be available at other reputable AccessPort tuners, or only through COBB?

You zip it you....That was....2003 and it cost me $500-600. That was when Trey answered the phone, the only Subaru exhausts were from England, and I felt shameful about my member number. How times have changed....

Its the original ECU flash offered by Cobb years ago.... pre AccessPORT version 1.

This predates my time at Cobb by many years. When AccessECU was out i was still working as a research scientist driving a stock honda Civic SI. (Don't tell anyone please).

If you'd like to tune your own car you can purchase an AccessPORT and download the end user tuning program (AccessTUNER Race) for free. All the myriad of features that are available to Professional tuners are yours for no additional cost. We also support our end uses at our our forums.

AccessFLASH is targeted to a narrow audience of customers that want and need a custom tune from a Cobb Retail store but can't afford the high cost of entry for an AccessPORT together with a custom tune. Most tuning shops, even those that tune with Cobb AccessPORTs, offer open source tuning to fill this customer need. All Cobb Tuning retail store calibrations need to be supported by the same high quality ECU discovery and R&D so using a different tuning tool is not reasonable. With AccessFLASH tuning we leverage the same intellectual property for all our tunes. This means the tunes are AccessPORT compatible and backed up by our collective experience with tens of thousands of subarus from years and years of tuning.

Best regards
Bailey

We've been down in Texas for a long time as well... remember, COBB started in Texas

This is AWESOME news for everyone... even if you've been on the fence about getting an AP... you can at least sample some of the exceptionally great custom tuning that COBB offers for a great price at ALL of their facilities! If you want, they offer a well thought-out upgrade path as well!
