Staying with the LGT style turbo and Top mount is going to hold you back from hitting those numbers. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think there's a large enough turbo (LGT style) to hit those numbers.

A 20g is capable of 400whp on e85 easily, but if you have a 09 wrx then you should get rid of that perrin tmic and go fmic so you can fit a (02-07 wrx/04-11) sti location turbo, unless they have bigger sized turbos for your intercooler, a 20g xtr,fp green hta, dom3 etc.. are perfect for 400whp

Does a 20gxtr not fit a TMIC?

I think the 08+wrx has a different turbo fitment than the earlier models.

The 20gxtr is an sti style turbo. It will not fit 08+ wrx with a top mount. You would have to get a fmic.

Cool man thanks. I knew the TMIC would hold me back some. Would any of those fit on the TMIC until I was to get a FMIC?

A 20g xtr does fit a 02-07 wrx or 04-11sti tmic but it won't fit a 08-11 wrx tmic since they are different, if you add this turbo then you need a fmic or some kind of custom tmic, which I havent seen one yet

Nope they won't fit, and I'm not familiar with other turbos like the vf52, but you can do a search of what could fit a 08-11 wrx and keep your perrin tmic

I believe that fast motorsports makes a top mount that you can get a Hose for that allows you to run a sti style turbo without swapping intake manifolds. They also have a fmic that comes with 2 sets of pipes to fit sti or wrx turbos. It's a txs copy.

just for search reference, there are quite a few guys putting down power in the 400whp range with the new BNR68 turbos which are legacy gt style turbos

^I've found the solution for running an aftermarket TMIC with the 20gxtr or any other aftermarket LGT style turbo on an 08+ WRX.
Process West and FMS both make an intercooler hose to make these turbo compatible with said TMICs. RallySport sells the PW hose while IIR sells the FMS hose.

So I bought a 06 wrx and I asked for a list of everything that's been done and one thing confuses me, he said it has a vf53 from a 08 sti and according to this thread it should be a vf48. Is there anyway to find out what I have without taking the turbo off the car?

Amazing thread and resource. To the OP

IHI VF56
Very similar to the VF42 model in terms of spool and capacity, the VF56 is a roller-bearing turbo and is similar in size to the VF42 turbo, but the twin-scroll exhaust housing is even a little larger still and yields faster spool-up and a superior top-end. The VF56 can be found on the R205 and the S206

FYI: The VF42 is also the turbo they used on the Legacy S402.

Again great thread and resource. Thanks for all of your efforts.

Is this turbo on my baja a TD04L 13t? It has gone and I want to upgrade. I see TD04HL 19ts all over ebay but it says Saab. The "HL" is specific to Saab then? I've found plenty of TD05H 20gs on ebay for relatively cheap as well. Would this be a decent upgrade and be able to get me to say 300chp or preferably 300whp?

I have an 04 STI and I only wanted a turbo swap not for power gain but for overall quality. VF43 is the stock STI turbo for i think the 2008+. It worked wonders! Loved it, added a little power and its overall better made! I recommend it!
