Exclamation Guys! Hey guys! Guys! Guys listen! Listen guys! I just saw the coolest toaster, guys!

Hey guys! I was toasting a bagel in the kitchen at work this morning because on Mondays they put out bagels and donuts and other pastries for everyone and I put my bagel in the toaster to toast it and on the front of the toaster there were two buttons that said "BAGEL" and "WARM" and since I was toasting a bagel I thought, "ok I guess I'll hit the bagel button" not knowing what it did but figuring it was something to do with proper bagel toasting and only the INSIDE elements got red-hot so that it was only toasting the INSIDE side of your bagel and not the crust side of your bagel and it was AWESOME!

I'm pretty excited about this.

An astute observation/question!

Actually, as herpespro noted, I got lucky. Sort of. It's intuitive that the crust of the bagel go on the outside. In fact, if you randomly asked 100 people to put a sliced bagel into a toaster, 98 of them would put them crust side out.

However, for those other two, there actually was a "proper bagel orientation diagram" on the toaster. I noticed it after the fact.

My cafeteria bagel toaster is a conveyor belt of alchemy and heat. By bagel either comes out slightly warm or black as night.

My home toaster has a bagel button.

A9:

We have one of thses at home:

http://www.amazon.com/Sanyo-SK-7W-Space-Saving-Toasty/dp/B00004SACQ
Back in the day, it was marketed as the BagelBest toaster oven. It has two tiers, and 3 heating elements; One on the bottom below the bottom rack, one in the middle above bottom rack and below the top rack, and one on the top above the top rack. You can choose to have different heating elements on for different things. For the result you were so excited about today, place half of the bagel face up on the bottom rack, and the other half face down on the top rack, turn on only the center heat element, and enjoy your toasted center bagel with the softy exterior. I, myself, prefer the outside to be crispy, and the inside to be soft.

I have used a variety of different types of toaster ovens thus far during my lifetime. The Sanyo SK-7 above is far and away my favorite.

Ours does, too. It's not all that great. Granted, you can run 2 items at a time, side-by-side. But there's not "hey, it's a bagel, only toast the sliced side" button.
