Default iPod Integration Kit - Newer devices don't work (iPhone 4s and 5)

I have the iPod Integration Kit on my 2008 STi. Worked great with my 3G and 4. Doesn't work with the iPhone 4S or the 5.

I've been doing some research on this and so far haven't found anyone with a solution. I've tried a couple different extension cables, a voltage converter, and even the new adapter from Apple. No luck.

Has anyone out there fixed this problem? My dealer said he's heard of the issue, but they aren't aware of any way to fix it.

I've been doing an intense amount of searching and also found nothing. I've resorted to using an iPod Touch and also using the AUX jack for when I need to listen to my iPhone. It's a total bummer. Newer vehicles use USB jacks that work without issue.

Default anyone figure this out?

I just installed the integration kit in my 08 Tribeca and nano works great, but iphone 5 with lightning to 30 pin doesn't work at all. iphone 5 just pauses as soon as I hit play. Never any sound.

I see there are only 6 wires connected through the 30 pin connector. Is the system using line level audio or something else? I wonder if there isn't way to hack it so it at least plays.

Welcome to apple. New phone coming out today anyway. Time to buy a new one and then do what they expect you to do: throw away all your accessories and buy new ones.

I am so bummed, the lightning to 30 pin adapter worked in my German car but not here, it charges but no sound. Is there a newer kit that I can buy to install?

2008 with Nav here...

Pick up a new head unit and you'll be golden. Your sound quality will improve considerably as well.
