They confirmed the P000A code, said they checked the car and couldn't find anything wrong. They said the reset the computer to let it relearn (said it was the recommended procedure according to the service manual) and to bring it back if it happens again. Hoping it doesn't come back but I'm not feeling too confident.

i finally put my Osram H9 bulbs in today to replace the factory H11's. much much brighter, I would say equal in brightness to high beams. I wish the low beam pattern was further down the road than it is wide, but for only 18.00 I can't complain and it was an easy enough thing to do.

Just use some grease on the bolts to make sure they're easier to get off next time. Since I ride (bicycle, not motorcycle), I have tubes of grease just laying around so that's what I used.

so to answer your question, no. h11 lumens are in the 1300ish range, H9 lumens are in the 2100ish range. well worth the slightly shorter bulb life Last edited by flyboy1100; 06-16-2012 at 10:01 PM. |

It's not sport as in racing. It's sport as in for people that do sports and outdoor things. It only comes in the 5 door with roof rails. More room for equipment. It has the all weather package and fog lights standard. They have higher ground clearance, 0.2 inches!!!
They aren't for improved performance. They are to better suit an outdoor lifestyle. They are a bridge to the Outback, not to the WRX. |

What is the oil pan made of on the 2012 Impreza? Is it low enough that it needs skid plate protection? |

I notice that when people report problems with their cars, they are asked what the build date is.
I'm very close to buying a 2012 Impreza Sport Premium 5-door. As luck would have it, the dealer just received one in a color I like (Obsidian Black Pearl/Dark Gray Metallic). It literally just arrived last week; when I saw it, they hadn't even removed the protective plastic covering the wheels. I don't know what the build date was, but it must be very recent (April or May, I would guess). It is normally my policy to not buy a new car design during its first year of production. If I buy this car, then I'm going against this policy. However, I'm assuming we're far enough into the first year of production that many of the original issues that were discovered have already been addressed at the factory (which is why I assume people keep asking the build date question). Is this a reasonable assumption, or should I pass on this car and not order one until I know it would be a 2013? How many fixes/improvements are likely to exist between an April/May 2012 car and an early 2013 car? When is the cut-off date after which ordered cars would be 2013s? The primary issues I've seen in this thread include: Squeaky driver's seat Oil level light that comes on even though the level is OK Oil level light that comes on because the car has excessive consumption Moisture in the doors Passenger occupancy sensor issues Probably others that I'm forgetting Are these issues not occurring on recently-built cars? I know this well. I had an A4 and the oil pan was right in front right after the bumper and i cracked my oil pan 3 times. 1 bottoming out. 1 hitting a steep driveway. 1 more bottoming out (i was speeding)

Yes, I added a skid plate to my VW Golf TDI. I'm hoping this isn't as necessary on the 2012 Impreza.

Any new car may have issues, from any manufacturer. The fact that some people are having issues is no indicator that you will have them. As far as I know they haven't changed the design of the door seals, they may have made a change to the airbag sensor, they did make a change to the dipstick tube, they didn't make any changes to the engine or oil sensor. In other words, they didn't change those things because there are not many drivers who are affected by them. If every driver had issues with the doors retaining water they would have redesigned the door seals, if every car was burning oil there would be some attempt to address it. Most drivers are not experiencing these issues, they are over-reported here (because if you had a car with issues, you would probably search the internets (sic) and start posting your problem, too). By the way most people are also getting the expected MPG's from this car (go over to Fuelly and look at the data). You would never guess that reading the MPG forum on this site. |

It might or it might make it more accurate. Subaru makes a variety of Imprezas with different wheels and I don't know if they calibrate the speedometer for each one.
The first step is to see what a GPS says is your speed on the freeway and then look for one of those radar readers in town that post your speed, using those two points of info you can get an idea of whether your speedometer is high or low. Then go to http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html and plug in some numbers to see what sizes affect the height and speedometer readout in the way you want. I want to go to 55 series to get some more rim protection and because the shops are charging more now to work on 50 series tires or lower. The 205 55's ride a bit higher too. The 195 55's are a close match in height and are a bit narrower which tends to be better for snow and rain in my experience so either of those tires look good to me. |

April 23 was the cut-off for 2012's, they're retooling the factory(ies) for 2013's in July, then they're producing 2013's in August, to arrive in dealerships by late-August-September? I'm guessing there's a couple months of pre-orders for 2013's and that not much is going to be different between model years. I'm holding out hope that any improvements for 2013 are applied to late 2012 models (still waiting for my late-run build...ordered March 12th, still waiting 97 days later). But, unless you like whatever stock dealers might still have on hand...almost all base models in black or gray, around here in Portland-area from what I can tell...you'll have to wait a while. I wonder if Subaru will be still sending 2012's even as they're making 2013's? I bet for that reason alone the difference between the 2 years will be about the same as the difference between an Oct 2011 build and one built last month, but it's only my uneducated guess... |

Yeah I still have the factory radio, no modifications at all. I don't really care about that feature so I haven't thought much of it. |
