That's not so bad. At least he knows mods and what they are good for. My Dad said I was stupid for trading my mazda3 since my WRX is louder, rumbles too much, and whines when you shift too high. He drove it once and wouldn't let the turbo spool... shifting real low every gear and the car shuddered

And I'm all stock...

First day I brought my '15 WRX to work.

Coworker 1: See his new car?
Coworker 2: Which one, the BMW?
Me: It's a Subaru.
Coworker 2: Very nice.

Went to advanced auto parts yesterday to check a CEL as my lovely V1 Accessport is broken. Mind you, this whole conversation takes place before I turn on the ignition to the car to enable reading the CEL. The conversation ensues...

Worker: *Sits sideways in the driver's seat and plugs in the CEL reader* What kind of car is this?
Me: A WRX
Worker: Who makes that?
Me: Subaru
Worker: *starts flipping through the CEL reader trying to find the car* Is that made in America or...?
Me: Japan
Worker: Oh I found it, it's not on the list
Me: Look under Impreza
Worker: Nothing is coming up on the reader.
Me: That's because I have to turn on the ignition for you to read the CEL
Worker: No, it should...
Me: *I turn on the car*
Worker: It's coming up as p0172
Me: *Google search on the droid* Oh it's running rich, thanks.

MAF cleaner and the CEL is gone, at least for now.

I used to drive a slammed 2000 Celica that would spit flames. I've had a cop pull me over saying "it sounded like I was going fast" and proceeded to strike up a conversation about my car and then let me go haha. That thing was quite the attention getter, ill miss it

I think even if doing nothing wrong, the WRX are just a magnet for trouble.
I picked up my 2002 WRX late on a Friday, so couldn't get it inspected until Monday so no sticker. My buddy and I were coming back from seeing our gfs when a cop on the opposite side of the highway turned around and pulled me over.
Cop: "Know why I pulled you over?"
Me: "No."
Cop: "Your fog lights are on and they are the size of dinner plates, illegal to drive with fog lights on with no inclement weather. They blinded me."
Cop: "Those after market?"
Me: "Sorry officer, first car I've had with fog lights, I'll shut them off. They came with the car."
Cop: "You also have no inspection sticker"
Me: "I am aware, I just bought the car yesterday"
--- Cop turns to walk away ---
Dumb a$$ friend (thinking he was being friendly with the cop): "Officer, one of your lights look like it's broken"
Cop: Excuse me?
Dumb a$$ friend: "Yeah, one of the lights on your light bar looks broken"
Cop (now looking at me): "Sir, how fast were you going?"
Me: "60, cruise control was set"
Cop: "I clocked you at going 75"
Me: "Officer as this is a brand new car, if you clocked me going faster I'd like to know as I'll take this to the dealership immediately to get it locked at."
Cop: mumbles and walks away
Cop: "Here's a warning, slow down, turn off the lights and get your sticker"

Also got pulled over the next day for no sticker... I got pulled over more in that car than any I've ever owned. Must have been something with that year Same car also got comments every time I went to get oil changed or work done.

Exactly why I love my narrow body WRX.

A friend of mine got pulled over while following me because of my exhaust in his mazdaspeed3 with OEM exhaust lol, I'm invisible!

I seriously hate Honda fanboys. There are some really nice, clean Hondas out there and those gay little kids ruin the scene.

A buddy of mine had EFI's racecar at the high school (my old stomping grounds) as part of his senior capstone project.

One of my friends, who previously seemed to know a little bit about cars, asks me, "Is this thing twin turbo?"
Me: "Nah, just a single big one, DOM3 I think."
Him: "Oh, cool."
*Two minutes later he's talking to my friend who brought it*
"Is this thing supercharged?"

Actually.. my 15 WRX Limited got 33.4mpg on 1 tank. Which it lasted me 500 miles and change (because there's still another gallon or so left). Thats mostly highway miles + some NYC city driving with A/C on low.

I can't agree more with you.

On another note, I need to start remembering the dumb things that people say to me so I can record them here. Or the type of people who try and get me to race them.

All the time in my BRZ:

Them: "Nice car! What's it got for power?"
Me: 200HP
Them: "Oh... it's turbo'd though right?"

My ex has a BRZ and the people questioning the car was relentless.

It's AWD right?
No... rear wheel.
No, it's AWD, all Subarus are.
Nope, still rear wheel.
_____

Only 200hp? Not very much?
The car is small, how much does it need? It feels like it has a lot more, tons of fun to drive.
Well, 200 still isn't very much.

I really don't get it. Awesome car, sorry you have to put up with that haha.

Why do you have that big handle on the back of your car? Is it so you can pull it around?

Car is COVERED in mud for a meet.

Stopped at a light

Them: Didja get stuck and have a buddy pull you out?
Me: Nope. Did this on purpose and drove out with my own four wheels.
Them: That's impossible. Evos don't have THAT good of AWD.
Me: Shucks, Guess I should've bought a Subaru.
*light turns green, open cutout and leave*

Was merging onto Rt 37 west from the Garden State Parkway south, and came onto 37 right in front of a decent looking new GTI. Dude rips around a few cars and rolls up next to me at the first light...

Him- Nice is that an STI!?
Me- Naa just a WRX, 08.
Him- Got any work done to it?
Me- Just an Accessport and Stage 1 OTS map, completely stock otherwise.
Him- Sweet dude let me see a burnout!
Me- I'd be all about it if it wasn't all wheel drive Him- *Awkward laugh and puzzled look* I was trying to see 2 wheels spin!

He then tears off as the light turns green.

....Some people don't seem to grasp the concept of AWD haha
