He might have an A+P, you don't have to major in aerospace to work on an airplane. I think they're guys at boeing that just smash rivits without having gone to school for aviation maintenance, someone else just have to sign it off for them.
Pretty much! We get trained for 3 months then we go out to shop. And we do alot more than "just smash rivets"

Since this guy was my friend, I convinced him that it might be career enhancing to get his A&P.....so he went to A&P school and got his certificates....and his career mushroomed.
He went to korea and worked for kal/united for several years, and then on to bejing for a couple, and these were VERY GOOD all expenses paid gigs.

He got recruited by and is now working for one of the MAJOR usa based airlines at their headquarters as the head of one of their engineering departments.

And when I talk to him about the whole thing, he always laughs and says something to the effect of...'who woulda thought getting that stupid A&P woulda made such a difference?'
I guess he does.....

Oh yeah......

After reading what you said I have long way to go... I would take the same path your friend took. Thanks for the info. I'm pretty sure a&p license alone wouldn't cut it to be successful in this field. And same with just having a degree: (
