Petrie dropped by yesterday, unlike you two other dudes. We should all have a BrewPub meet one of these days. Warwick? You up?

Yeah, yeah... I feel shame. Seriously, it's next to impossible for me to get in to RR during the week because I work in Van and am gone from 7am - 7pm. One of these days I will make it in, and will bring Turbo (my dog) in too...

I'm in too. Back to work next week so weekends or after 7pm would work best.

You guys should hit up the new Wildwood Bar and Bistro at the Mountain Retreat (?) Hotel beside the Timmy Ho's. My friends are the owners and they always have good food and service at their restaurants. Their Whistler outlets are the local's favourite, especially for breakfast.

Yeah man, I'll stop by some time soon. Honestly though, I am nervous about stopping by the shop... I might not be able to resist the urge to buy something pricey!

Next week I am working out of Slurrey so I won't be coming back up to town. A meet the week after would work best for me.

I am seeing a lot of other Subies in town too... I don't get any acknowledgement from them when I wave so I assume they aren't on the forum.

I think I met you on the highway this morning Petrie... around 8:25 headed south at the Britannia Mine. Was it you?

Yes it was. I did wave (just). Recognized you by the twin Hellas mounted up front.

Well that was fun today. 6 hour commute home means that we can now count ourselves as moved in. Shawmacs, I spotted you again and the black STI (with his front plate on the dash) was just a few cars behind you. You're both on the same schedule. He's not far from you on the way in the morning.

Oh really? I missed you this morning. I was seriously late this morning!

What a wonderfule experience going home. I would have turned around and gone back to Squamish, but I was already into the divided section of the highway, immediately after I passed the Lions Bay turn off and thought, "I wonder if I should pull in here and wait for the highway to re-open."

You guys should go here, and sign up for the highways SMS service - they send out a text message to your cell phone when there are issues on the highway - accidents, construction blockages, etc.

http://www.theweathernetwork.com/roadalerts

What was the delay caused by yesterday?
Works quite well, and worth the $0.25 per text message.

Wouldn't have made any difference to me... I knew the highway was closed before I left Squamish. I was just gambling that they would have it re-opened by the time I got to Ansell Pl. No such luck.

Yeah, last nights commute sucked big time. I have only ever had one other commute to Squamish like that when there was a head-on collision 10 cars in front of me on the highway: that was a very unpleasant site to see.
I can't believe Kiewit was still doing their regular closures last night after they F'd up and shut the highway down for 4+ hours!

the biggest issue with that highway is that if there is an issue, you really have no other options. You either stay and wait, or hope there's a chance to pull a u-turn and head home.

6 hours in traffic is enough to drive a man insane.

Hey WhistlerRally, not sure how serious you are about getting a Unimog but I found an ad for the truck I saw, it's called a Hanomag:

Pretty damn cool, it's even got a gun turret!?!

Anybody thought more about the Squamish meet? Weekends or after 7 are best for me...

Yeah, I have been thinking about it frequently, just that I am not staying in town yet, so staying late for beers makes for a long drive home afterwards.

This week is a possibility though, I could always work late until 7.

I'm out of town this weekend (Fri-Sun on the Island). Apart from that, most days are good.
