Quick question -
The Strake Kit states that it is only for the Sport, is there any reason this won't fit on the other models? |

I loved Loved LOVED my WRX. Owned it for 8 trouble-free years.
When looking for a replacement I reexamined my needs for a car. My income is dramatically less than when I bought the WRX. I can only afford one car. The kind of driving I do is:
I do miss the power of the WRX. I do not miss the horrible gas mileage. Last edited by somebody else; 05-01-2012 at 02:09 PM. |

it's funny, beyond that obvious use of mountainous driving, i thought i'd probably use it occasionally just to return to the whole manual driving experience. i now don't think that will be the case. i've been trying to use it occasionally to help with the engine break in period of having better control of varying RPMs, but confess that after doing the manual shifting for a while, i get tired of it and just let the CVT do its thing and i pop it back into D. do other folks who have driven a manual feel the same way? i never got tired of driving stick all of these years, but there is something about using those paddle shifters that just doesn't fit my mindset or perhaps habit. i wonder aloud if i would actually prefer "shifter" that is like some other cars on the actual automatic transmission "stalk." i still find myself resting my hand naturally there although it has nothing to do... For spirited driving, a little bit of manual interaction helps, but it's few and far between. I blipped down a few gears for passing when the CVT didn't really sense my urgency when stomping on the gas. |

Back to the Fumoto Valve thing. I have searched high and low to figure out what size I need. I own a 2012 impreza limited (sedan if that makes a difference). Keep coming back to the 105, however, I see others have posted that they bought the 108N and that is what I should get, however, I called the dealership and they said my drain plug was a 20 mm (although the guy did not sound convincing). Multiple websites list the 105, can't find anything that is VERY convincing. Anyone know for sure what it is? and thanks for all the info posted on here.

Yeah, I looked at getting an OEM plug and with that I am even getting discrepancies. I got the 105 sitting at home I will try it this weekend and let you guys know. I was just hoping that someone had a FOR SURE answer on this. Also, dealer isn't that close to me and service/parts hours are terrible there (6 p.m.). Believe me, I am all about doing things the easiest way.

also: did you see the mileage threads with the TSB on the TCU and ECU programming firmware from Jan 2012 correcting issues with the CVT and other matters? i actually, in my limited use (in my feb 2012 built one) found that the quick use of manual (while in Drive) has been pretty well behaved. i have yet to take a long highway trip to see how it handles a long downgrade. but i guess if i have any issues, i would slip it into M so that i can't be too smart and shift when i don't want it to. |

Hey all,
We just got our first Subaru a 2012 5 door CVT Premium in Black Cherry Pearl. So far we really like it. I wanted to find out if this is normal before taking it in, when starting from a dead stop and making a turn I hear a low grumble from the rear of the car. I also notice it when backing up a hill into our driveway. I wasn't sure if this was a normal sound for a Subaru or something that I should be concerned about. There are no other vibrations or noises at any other time. The low growl sound goes away after about 100 feet or so. Thanks in advance. Snow |

anyone install a block heater yet? the part number is A091SFJ000 but I wonder how much it differs from A0910AS100, which is 1/3 the price http://www.subarugenuineparts.com/pr...oducts_id=1296

The F108 is 16mm so my measurement was close. The F105 is 20mm. Let me know what you discover when you pull out your plug... |

Checked my tire pressures today, I've got about 1.5K on the odo new from the dealership and have never put air into the tires. They were reading ~45psi cold with ~75 degree outside air temp. So +1 to the list of dealers that didn't prep right.
Installed the Subaru hood deflector today as well, anyone know how to remove the Subaru lettering on it safely? |

Why would anyone drive 1500 miles without checking their tire pressure? Because the TPMS light wasn't lit?
I corrected the tire pressure the next morning after driving it home when the tires were cold and check them every couple of weeks. |

Zeeper,
In the defensive of the individual that drove 1500 miles before checking tire pressure it was most likely because he just read about it. This problem is fairly well documented here but you have to come across it or search for "tire pressure" to find it. As far as other forums go none of them have much more than a hint of this problem. |

Probably because they assumed the dealer would have done the right thing and perform proper PDI. I can't believe how lazy some dealers are.
