I went with hella 500 black magic's. They work ok for what I do. I'm going to invest in some 1000 black magic's soon.

By all means copy this. I can even do some kind of how-to with exact measurements. I'm not one of those people that hoards ideas. Shoot, I can even make more brackets and get them to you if you pay shipping. I'll have to ask Mickey and make sure he doesn't want to do it as some kind of package deal.. He was a huge help. |

But yeah, you definitely "did it right!" I plan on copying this...just as soon as I have money for it. I'm trying to figure out what other mods I can put off so I can do this sooner! Care to share what the total cost was with the brackets added? BTW, nice to see someone from CA modify their Subie in a hellafunctional manner, not a hellaflush manner! (CA just makes me think of Hellaflush toolbags with "illest" stickers.) |

Man, for 245 bucks you can save all that weight AND have a great place to mount lights. It was the first thing I did to my car and it made a difference I could feel. I worked out a package deal; I ordered the subframe at the same time. I'm fairly certain he didn't tack on more than like 10 bucks but I can't say for sure. And, yeah.. CA can be a little ridiculous. Looking "flush" is neat and all, but it's not very conducive to having fun! Not all of CA is like that, I promise. |

the problem with my headlights is they're junk. someone baked them open and did a horrible job. i could easily pull the lens off with one hand, but i guess that doesn't effect the aiming. i hate to say it, but it looks like i'll be getting some cheap ebay headlights. :[
Edit: Just aimed the headlights. Last edited by Subooheroo; 05-19-2011 at 11:18 PM. |

Not 100% done yet, but you get the idea. I took lots of pictures for people who would like to make something similar.

I love the look, but driving lights won't perform well that low.

I'll put out some beam shots, I do realize that they are upside down, but it was all planned out. I was trying not to interrupt airflow too much, and I don't have stretches where I need to light up 300+ m in front of me (where more highly mounted driving lights would benefit) and I always have the option of changing up my mounting configuration. It's a work in progress haha.

Just noticed my Rally Innovations light bar is starting to rust pretty bad where the welds are... Any one have any ideas on what I can do?
Thought about covering the whole bar in undercoat, or bedliner. Just wondering what other options I'd have. (And I've only had it since mid august.) |

clean it up, hit it with some "rusty metal primer" and repaint or undercoat it.
upstate NY is hell on anything attached to your car. |
