Niiice! I really should put Mudflaps on mine. I don't have anything on mine, not even the optional splash guards and I'm running 17x8 wheels. Those wheels toss a lot of crap onto my car.

I installed mine myself. Theres metal clips that hook on to the lip of the hood and fasteners are screwed into them. No holes need to be drilled. The only thing you need is a screwdriver i think. You can find the directions it comes with online pdf version.

Looks good. Take a pic with them off. Are you going to swap the eyebrow lights with LEDs to match the color?

I am trying to do this and cant reach them without removing battery. Anyone else do this?

Its a PITA. I actually accessed mine from under the car. Took of the plastic covering and reached alllll the way up. I did it at the same time as my fogs. I didnt jack the car up and couldnt see what I was doing haha. I did it all by feel and a little help from the girlfriend. Its worth doing. I deleted my daytime running lights and it looks awesome with just the top corner LED's!!!!

So have you tested to see if you're blinding other drivers with your HIDs? Cuz I really hate those ricers out there that don't do their HIDs properly (retrofit) and just blind the **** out of every other driver. Looks like you didn't do any retrofitting and could be blasting other drivers with your HIDs without projectors.

This guys is the only person on NASIOC that seems to have done it right (that I've found at least):

No it was a simple HID conversion kit, the bulbs twisted right into the original h11 slots. I barely had to touch them and they were already level.

level doesn't matter, they still produce a lot more extra glare. even changing from H11 to H9 bulbs creates more glare.

post a picture of your car parked say 10ft from a wall. if there is light above the level cutoff line, you are creating glare

What this guy said. HIDs need to be retrofitted, plain and simple. Unless your car has built in projectors. I can't tell you how many headlights I've wanted to bash in for their cheap approach (and sometimes dangerous) to HID conversions.

Light above the cut off hmmmm u mean the "glare" that helps you see street signs? Weird.

Never been blinding by un retrofitted HIDs in my life.

Halogen cars, lifted trucks with halogen trucks yes....

Don't the Canadian spec Impreza's have optional HID's?

http://subaru.ca/WebPage.aspx?WebPag...&WebSiteID=282

Clearly the HID's pictured on the Subaru of Canada website are in reflector housings. What makes these different from putting aftermarket HID's in the stock housing of a USDM Impreza?

[edit]
In fact after a closer look I read this on the same page:
Quote:
Headlights: Contoured multi-reflector Xenon High Intensity Discharge (HID) (low beam) with auto leveling

I think it's funny the hodgepodge of different accessories for the Impreza that are out there, but there's not one location that has everything available for it. The most common thing that I've seen is that the US-package Sport version has painted 17 inch alloys and roof rails that aren't available on other international versions. However, there are International versions that have side-mirror turn signal lights, HIDs, and non-sport versions of the 4 and 5 door variants with the side skirt rocker panels.

It makes me want to order some parts internationally to put on my Impreza. I'd love the side-skirts on my non-Sport Impreza and those side-mirror turn signals are just cool to me.

This explains the difference. TL;DR - The beam will not be focused.

Yes I understand that. My point is, that Subaru appears to have put HID's in a reflector housing. If you take a look at the link in my previous post you could see it. Subaru does not use projectors for their optional HIDs on the Canadian models. Thus, I would assume it's the same reflector housing as everyone else.

explain to me then how my friend with a bmw with real projectors has a very nice cutoff (no light above) can still light up signs...

the light above the cutoff is glare, brighter source = more glare.

He's using a flashlight.

Exactly, you don't know what you are talking about and are just justifying your install because you are blinding every vehicle you meet.

I put in H9's, I produce more glare and I know it, but not as much as putting hids in a halogen reflector

HID version

Non HID version

It's not the same.

Upon first glance, they appear to be the same, but the difference is the HID version reflector has a base for a D2R bulb, and the D2R bulb has a paint stripe on the bulb to prevent light from reflecting upward (stripe points down so that light doesn't hit the reflector) and the HID housing also has an auto-leveling motor.

Your HID kit includes an H11 rebased HID bulb that does NOT have the paint stripe and is not 'point-of-light' centered in the reflector, so it will not have the light thrown the right way.

It may be only off by a hair, but that does affect the way light comes out of the reflector.

Bottom line: Reflector housing HIDs have D2R bulbs, and are measured to make sure the light is coming from the reflector correctly. HID bulbs in a halogen bulb reflector WILL CAUSE GLARE (whether minimal or not).
