Default Brittle Connectors

Brittle connectors or me getting too lame to keep doing this, either could apply...

2002 WRX - I was trying to disconnect the connector to the fuel pump relay and I broke one of the little clips that holds it together. I was trying to be careful and it made no difference, I snapped it right off. Here's what I'm thinking but I'm open to any better ideas. It's in a place that is very hard for me to get to. I'm thinking that if I take a piece .032" safety wire, wrap it in a thin piece of heat shrink tubing, run it right across the middle of the two connectors (between the wires), and twist the whole mess together, I'll have something easy, reliable, and removable. But if there is something easier and better I'd love to hear it.
