Default What is the name of that group of people who do crazy jumping/climbing in cities?

What is the name of that group of people (or that style of whatever it is) where they would start on like the top of a building and do crazy Jackie Chan stuff to get down? They would just run through cities and jump over/up/around/through everything...

They had an ad on MTV I think. I wanna say they were french...

Thanks!

No, it's not freestyle walking. It's nothing like skating. It's just people climbing up/down amazingly high stuff, really fast, and really fluidly...

Yeah, one of the guys was in the chicken ad!!

Come on OT!! Someone's gotta know!?!?!

I've never seen the commercial... is the runner black? If so, could it be the Beale Street Flippers?
*edit: nevermind.

Quote:
David Belle, acrobatic star of the BBC's new advertising campaign, is the acknowledged guru of a new urban sport in France known as Le Parkour - or obstacle-coursing.

Described by adepts as an art-form or even a philosophy, Le Parkour consists of finding new and often dangerous ways through the city landscape - scaling walls, roof-running and leaping from building to building.

"Le Parkour - or the Art of Movement - is a way of using the obstacles found in one's path to perform jumps and acrobatics.

Belle: Aims "to make people understand what it is to move"

"Everything must combine speed, fluidity, aesthetics and originality," reads one of several websites dedicated to the sport.

Don't people commonly do this kind of activity while drunk?

they're called yamakasi. Luc Bessen did a film about them a couple years back. Basically they do the stuff that jackie chan does in his movies. They also starred in 2 nike commercials. One with a guy chasing a chicken and another where a guy fetches a purse. If you're planning to rent the movie don't because it's not that good. =/

Uh, no. You are quite mistaken there.

Free baser = smoking crack
BASE jumper = parachuting off of stationary objects

I did. Bush diving (jumping into shrubbery) and gulching (running full speed down treed slopes, or gulches) were my favorite college pastimes.
