Default 2006 STI Driveline Noise

At about 15k I began to notice driveline drone, a constant unchanging intonation, monotonous low sound and bearly discernible but it is bugging the hell out of me. Sounds similar to an unbalanced washing machine but not nearly as loud. Not sure I can pass this noise as typical AWD drivetrain inherited sound. Noise is noticeable at any engine speed little throttle, coasting or decelerations make no difference, sound is there. Dealer tech after a drive test (me driving) concurred it's normal and all STI even brand new ones suffer from it, he acknowledged I am not the first complaining about it. Anyone with an ""06"" experiencing this constant sound?? I know 04/05 suffered from a rear diff issue but I would assume that would be taken care off on the '06s.

I have a problem with Subaru declaring noises that pop up 15k miles after purchase normal, but I guess if they had to diagnose every noise we heard they would go out of business, not our fault though.

I had this happen, the rear diff was my problem though. First they said they didn't hear a noise, than they said they heard a noise and were happy to charge me for work that didn't fix it, then when it became a drivetrain issue of warranty work suddenly it was "normal". I fought and got a new rear dif, they will install it on thursday, though they basically ridiculed me and said I was getting my new dif only out of "goodwill".

Goodwill my ass.

goodluck.

Rear diff issues: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...5&pagenumber=1

Doesn't sound like the same sound, though. Good luck with it.
