Default Which OEM diffuser to buy??

Subaru Genuine Parts has the 06^sti rear diffuser but there is one with the weld on mounts and one without. Which one should i get?

well, they are both the same diffuser
you can get the one with mounts or get the one without and make up your own mounts.
i chose to get the one with oem mounts and bolted tha bad boy up.

OR you can drill through the spare tire well (with spare tire out of course) and put carriage bolts through, thats what I did.

do you have access to a welder and welding skills?
or have a friend who matches this description?

if not the weld on brackets will be paperweights in your house somewhere.


I got the brackets and had my buddy weld them on for me.
it's a bit of a fiddly job, but worthwhile (to me).

To recap, you have three choices:

Diffuser w/drill & bolt on brackets
Diffuser w/weld on brackets
Diffuser w/Cusco frame bar -- no drilling or welding.

All use the same factory diffuser.

The only other difference is that the first two utilize all 5 mounting points on the diffuser. The last uses only 4 mounting points -- it does not use the center one. This is not a problem at all -- I have the Cusco kit.

FWIW the bolt on one is easy-peasy to install, and looks nice.
