I dont have one but I got a ride in one. Its top end felt significantly faster then my sti at the time. I think it was making 320 wheel....does that sound about right for a rex with 18G + TBE + UTEC + FMIC + intake? It was a real nice set up. What I liked about it was it didnt have the huge lage of an over sized turbo. Totaly streetable. It was a nice combination.

I went from a VF22 to an 18G on my 02 WRX. Also did my runs at Bandimere (5280ft asl) on pump gas.
Mods with VF22: -MRT 3" catless TBE -UTEC -pinks + GSS342 -TXS TMIC v1 -lightened pullies -AEM CAI -boost up to 17psi down to 15psi by redline - all it would hold to redline -pump gas 93 octane ran a 1.85 60' - 13.2@101 Mods with 18G: -same -added GP MOTO 4-2-1 headers -did NOT change tune one bit for headers -20psi peak and to redline for boost ran a 1.96 60' - [email protected] Same spool as the VF22 but more topend. |

You've seen my dyno sheet, 315/270, [email protected]. I've got tonight and tomorrow to get back into the 12's at NED before it closes.

I'm not certain I agree. The extra 3 to 5 lbs of boost and the set of headers could be all the difference. And while his post says 15psi was "all it could hold at redline" I'm not certain what that means. Every person I've ever known with a vf22 has never had any problem running 20+psi all the way to redline. The problem has always been "not enough fuel", and too much boost. It's no suprise where the "more topend" is coming from, the extra 5psi of boost. 5 lbs is a huge difference! I'm not dissing the 18G, it's a great turbo and should perform better than a vf22. But what is stated above is not what I would call a fair comparison. |

But I then ran the 18G at 20psi daily for about 10,000-15,000 miles which btw up here worked out to be in the 3.0-3.2PR range = VERY high turbine rpms. I then sold it to another owner who ran it just as hard for about the same amount of miles maybe more. Then the 3rd owner opted to have it rebuilt just as a precaution and precursor to installing it. So IMHO, totally can't verify this, the VF22 with the helper spring to hold 20psi to redline would have probably made about the same hp/trap speeds in the 1/4 mile but it only lived about 8,000 miles at the 3.x+ PRs that come from running 20psi at 6000ft asl. So the 18G is a much more durable and cheaper turbo to maintain in the long run. FWIW. |

WOW that some nice trap, I'm going for 100 octane myself and will seriously consider getting an 18g if I see more times/trap like yours! |

Yeah. I launched the s*** out of it lol
Quick question to those who are running 20+psi. Any ones boost taper down up near redline? Mine is going down from 22 to 19.5 and I am thinking about tightening the wastegate a little. Oh and ill be getting a headersoon . So maybe 11's? (Probably not) -Bogus |

we tryed to get the most out of the turbo we could. He said it was tapering down. ( I might have loosened the wastegate on accident when installing) But I thought 18g's could hold that boost to redline. So he Tuned me on 22psi and up top he leaned me out a little so i still had power and not notice the boost drop as much.

Hey im on the stock tranny and CLutch. Which both have seen 30+ pass's down the 1/4.
3 of them were with the 18g ( plus a number of street launches) |

I'm just glad I preempted a tranny failure with RA's. They did make my 1/8 times suck, however.

would '04 + transmissions hold up better at those power levels (~290-320) due to the revised gear widths?
