Not quite an axis head, axis valvetrain custom port job. the piston hit the valve.

Huh. So this is what actually happened to this motor, eh? I remember this from the Ron&Phil thread a while back...just supposedly tooling around town, decelerating from 4K, "tink", and it immediately shut down.
Did you ever determine if this was an assembly error, or an AVCS tuning error? Seems to me that it was likely one or the other... |

The valves hit the pistons because wrong spec pistons. I don't think there were any valve reliefs cut in these pistons.

OK, you have my curiosity going. If you're up to it, let's do a little autopsy work here:
How did the other pistons look? Did you hear any light "tapping" or "ticking" at any other time during that first 10 miles? Make and model # of the pistons? Headgasket thickness? Was anything decked? |

The best bet is to contact a tuner and see what amount of avcs they use for your specific pistons and cams. With those cams, for sure you won't be able to run the 30* or whatever the stock map provides. tune her up to you hear the noises and back her off a little |
