Default Boost leak question

Simple question:
Will a small boost leak cause delayed spool up or decreased max boost pressure?
I believe that it will cause decreased max pressure because it's after the MAF sensor which determines boost, or am I wrong?

Anyone??? I ask because I installed an HKS blow off valve and it seems like my car dosen't spool up as fast, which is probably in my head, but it does hold 13-14psi with the stock boost controller.

I would say just double check everything. If you think something is not write with the BOV, put everything back to normal and compare. You may also want to contact HKS
themselves and ask your question.

What ever happens...good luck

Make sure the BOV is seated perfectly on the mounting point on the intercooler. We had a TurboSmart BOV that looked fine mounted on the intercooler, but the holes in the mounting flange were drilled too high, so the bottom of the BOV was hanging off of the gasket at the bottom, where we couldn't see.

Take the BOV off and inspect the gasket. If the circle impression in the gasket goes off an edge, it's a boost leak.

Our boost leak was pretty big, but we still showed full boost. Wastegate starts working later, is all.

Good luck,

Gary

No pictures. We figured out the problem 25 mintes before our final qualifying session and had to modify the BOV to fit properly. No time for pictures.

Just remove the BOV and look at the indentation on the the gasket. If you can see a full, perfect circle, it's fine. If the circle goes off any side of the gasket, you've got a leak.
