^ That's sweet. Offer him $275 and pay him 300 if he doesn't want that.

Had a good time riding Exit 27 yesterday with Joel and his friend! w00t! Was nice hitting up a new place. It was a little technical/loose and the killer bees was an issue but I had fun none the less.

yeah that was good stuff. very different from the buffed trails at Duthie that I'm so used to riding. The only thing I didn't like about 27 is that it wasn't a session place. I didn't want to go up for a second lap on the trail (nor did anyone else).
How'd your video turn out? mine was slow and boring. -joel |

Haha pretty much the same. It was having some mad exposure issues too. Nothing really worth posting besides Tim running down the hill from the killer bees. Lol

hahaha! my neck was actually still hurting this morning from the sting I got.
Its funny, I felt like I was in a good rhythm until that point. The break we took kinda got me out of that zone and the ride wasn't long enough after that to get back into it. I think I will probably hit it up again. Its quite the change from Duthie. |

Rode the North Fork trails (up Mt. Baker Hwy) today with some buddies who ride it all the time. Man that place tore me up. Crazy techie steep. My butt became friends with a broken branch on a log so I'll be limping and sitting sideways for a while now.

anyone got a hook up on some tires? I'm ready for some new tires.
Currently on Kenda Nevegal Stickee in 2.35". Was thinking Maxxis Minion DHF 2.5 in the front and rear or maybe the Nevegals in 2.5". I'm pretty sure I can fit a Kenda 2.5 in the back of my Enduro. Is a 2.5 Nevegal overkill for riding around Western Washington? I do regular rides at Duthie and the occasional trip somewhere else (Tokul, 27, etc.) |

nevegals are useless anywhere! Worst tire in my opinion! minions/spesh clutch/spesh butcher. great tires for the same price, and they aren't so huge.

Nevegals are excellent for trail riding and freeride in the NW. They shed mud very well and the single ply is somewhat light weight. The tread is not very good for DH race but it does ok at high speed. Rolling resistance is poor.
I have a pair of 2.5 stick-e singly ply that are basically new that I could sell for $40. Just let me know if you want to go that route and we'll meet up. Of course Minion DHF is a fav all around and the new High Roller II should be excellent. Also check out Continental's newer line and Black Chili compound. Supposedly some good stuff in there with der Baron, Rubber Queen, and der Kaiser. |

I wouldn't say they're useless. I ran them for two years non consecutive years and they were pretty dang good. Up late August I never felt like they were letting me down. I'm pretty sure its because they are nearing end of their life. I was thinking about trying something new out since thats the only tire I've really ridden.

I ran Nevegal 2.35s for a while. Great traction but super slow rolling. I switched to Specialized Purgatory 2.4F 2.2R and love them even more. For the muddy season I plan on running a Specialized Clutch 2.3 Front and a Purgatory 2.2 rear.
I love the high volume and true width of Specialized tires. Maxxis are nice, but their 2.5 is smaller than a lot of companies 2.3s. Infact the Nevegal 2.35 is slightly bigger than the Minion 2.5. |

Why is it overkill? Don't you get more traction from a bigger footprint?
Ive never actually measured but is the kenda 2.35 dead on? My buddy has minion 2.5 and they are pretty much the same width as my nevegals. One bad thing I hear about the minions is that there's no transition from center knobs to side knobs. |

I expect to ride an AM bike like the enduro up and down hills which for me the 2.5 makes difficult. I'll take a modest 2.3x and lower tire pressure for the way down.

The Minion (DHF) got voted best tire EVER by two different magazines. Its a pretty amazing tire whether you have it in 2.35 3c, 2.5 Super tacky, or 2.5 3c. Its pretty awesome. Maxxis tires do run a bit small, but why do people always think big bulky tires work better? Many DH racers only use 2.3s, so why would you want all that beef on a AM or XC bike? I have found that Specialized tires are pretty awesome too, in particular the Clutch SX (folding) and S-Works Purgatory (like sea-scooby said) and they have similar compounds to Maxxis.

I would never run a Nevegal again. The one I had lasted half a season before the sidewall began to fail. I ran it on the rear.
I've had a 2.5 Maxxis Minion as my front tire for the last 4 years, and it still has 75-80% tread! The tire has hundreds and hundreds of miles on it (maybe 1000+) and it has never let me down. I've never even had a flat, ever. That is one burly ass tire. The only downside is that it's heavy. I will be replacing it soon though, because I'm going tubeless. And it will probably be replaced with a Schwalbe. Either a Big Betty or a Muddy Mary. Schwalbe is the goods. |

its weird how there's polar opposites on the nevegals. I've never had issues with them until recently. I got them on a used bike and i think that puts them up at 4 years and I've never had a problem.
I will say that I'm pretty interested in picking up a set of Minions in the 2.5 size (2.35 Maxxis tires seem super narrow to me). Just don't want to put out the extra cash for them for some reason. Hoping I can find a good deal on them. |

Not sure why you want to run a 2.5 on the rear.

See post 1262.
I don't think its going to even fit though. Probably going to end up with 2.5/2.35 minions. |

I run nevegals for the same reason jojo, came on a used bike. Never had an issue and feel they perform fine, but then again, I don't read magazines much on what is all the cool **** lol.
If you ride up stuff, I wouldn't go with 2.5's, I run 2.35 front, 2.25 rear on an AM bike. It's like snow tires, remember the bigger contact patch can just make you spin more when needed as compared to transferring your weight down into a smaller patch to grab. |

If you got 2 I would keep the 2nd for a spare. 2.5 in the rear makes no sense and also won't fit on a lot of bikes. I run a 2.1 on the rear. MTB Weirwolf. I bought 2 off Chainlove for $14.99 ea.
