If the manufacturers and dealers had their way....

You would pay the dealers lots of money to buy the car

Then you'd pay the dealers lots of money to service the car

And then after two to three years you'd trade the car in for a new one, giving them lots of money in the process and creating instant profit for the used car market.

If you think about it, you really don't need to service the car if you only keep it a couple of years.

Most of the services you can do yourself. Brake fluid is kinda messy to do alone, and I'm not going anywhere near the timing, but other than that...

I recently switched to Redline 75w90NS in the gearbox and the car is a LOT happier in cold weather.

45K is the same as the 15K, and the 60K is the same as the 30K

Which doesn't mean much.

every 15k I try and do oil, filter, clean the air filter, fuel filter (from now on), cabin filter, and spark plugs. Every 30k brake fluid and coolant. I'm sure theres some obscure stuff I missed.

Maybe, but it does mean that @ 45K he can do everything that's needed on his own with one hand.

the stealership told me all they do is an oilcheck, inspection and tire rotation. they wanted 115.00 bucks..thats when I started laughing and hung up the phone. I thought there was more to it than just that!

thanks for the reply's, the reason I asked was I had to talk to about 4 people in the service dept before I spoke w/ someone who actually knew what the 45k service entailed. If I lived closer to Smart service I would take it there. They did an excellent job on my 30k!
