No pics but I will take some tomorrow! I didnt remove anything! You just have to unhang and drop down the muffler, enlarge 2 hole and it bolts right up! I didnt think it would be as easy as it was! I am really happy with!

anyone mount a curt hitch with a HKS carbon ti exhaust yet? I'm going to mod my curt unit to accept a 2 inch bike rack and might redo the "hoop" part that goes over the muffler section to make more clearance.

Curt hitch. TurboXS turbo back with standard muffler. 3 Kartboy extra long (XL) hangers on the muffler and 1 stock hanger on the midpipe. About 1/2 inch clearance between the hitch and the muffler tip.

Man you have to fix that crooked azz muffler!

I have the same one and in order to correct it I had a Kartboy long on the right and front of the muffler. The left side of the muff I had to put a standard Kartboy hangar cause it was all jacked up like yours. I kept a standard Kartboy at the mid-pipe too.

i went to extended hangers with the stock sti exhaust i have and i hate it, hangs to low for me and looks dumb

gonna go back to stock hangers and just notch the side of the hitch where it used to rub one of the hangers on the left side

I will start by saying the Subaru WRX can sure hold its own with towing! My 09 wrx towed a Uhaul trailer 5x8 closes to the max weight from sunny Cali to the Midwest! Up and over the Rocky Mountains, through a couple winter storm too! She pulled/ran 3 days straight through only stopping for gas and once for a couple hours of sleep that I needed. Just a couple pics. When I left Cali, Ending in the Midwest! total 2,227 miles!

Unlikely to have a harness in the MY02, did you look? All the info is in this thread.

now i have towed with trucks before, and i assume its because they have a frame and are not unibody they dont have trailer vibrations.

but yesterday i just installed my hitch and pulled a trailer and i noticed you feel the vibrating through the whole car.

anyone else notice that?

Nope. I've towed 4 trailers with my WRX, no noticeable vibrations. That said all the trailers were in good condition and towed straight and true. If you have a trailer that is producing vibration from improper tongue weight, unbalanced tires, poor design, etc, then you are more likely to feel it in a 3K pound car vs. a 6K pound truck. My friend experienced this with their aluminum outboard boat, when towed with an explorer, it was manageable on the highway, but hook it up to a taurus wagon and it wagged the dog over 50 MPH, likely due to low tongue weight.

Ok, so what's the consensus on which hitch has the most exhaust clearance? I've got an 06 STI and an Invidia G200 catback on it. I need a way to transport four 18x10" wheels with 275s for autocross, and I don't think they'll fit in the car. Thanks.

What about my 2006 2.5i wagon? Can it do the same. From all the info I'm getting (including the owners manual and the dealership) the messages are mixed.

I'm looking at the same set up as above...maybe the 4'x8' depending on the amount of gear and I'm looking at traveling around 900miles from Calgary, Alberta to Nanaimo (Vancouver Island)... so there will be mountains to get up and over.

I have the standard hitch installed from eh dealer (2000lb load/200lb tongue wight).

Any help on what kind of set up I need would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!! Thank you.!

Nice Bike!!!!!

here is an update on my situation:
this was my old trailer which weighed 140 lbs

I've been waiting for a long time to upgrade and i finally did!!! here is the new trailer.

Towing the trailer empty i got 18 mpg at highway speeds for a trip of about 100 miles. i have found that the car struggles at speeds over 55 mph, also i found some relief while drafting behind big semis.

Now that i have the new trailer i'm starting to get anxious about hurting the car towing.......
new trailer 700 lbs
with bike and gear ~1300 lbs

Bear with me, in an effort to justify what i have done i have many questions and seek the wise for advise:

The British version of the impreza is rated to tow 1200 Kg - 2640 lbs:
http://subaru.co.uk/vehicles/impreza/20-rcmanual/
Whats the difference between our model and the British model, since the US model is not rated to tow?

I took my car to a transmission guy to install a tranny cooler and the guy said that i didn't need one since the impreza's transmission is made by nissan and it is very strong???? is that true?

if the 01 forester is rated to tow and the impreza has the same engine, tranny and chassis how come it is not rated to tow? (unless i have been misinformed)

would driving in 3rd gear at 55 mph while towing for over 100 miles be hurting the tranny if the revs are between 3000 - 4000 rpm?

would driving in manual mode be hurting the car more than keeping it in auto? i feel like if i am in manual mode i can shift at the appropriate time vs shifting too early in auto mode.

I would really appreciate some insight and i apologize for all the questions.
Thanks!
Gus.

That trailer is called "trailer in a bag"
http://trailerinabag.com/index.html

Awesome little thing!!! the day the pic was taken i got 27 mpg on a 200 mile trip, didn't even know it was there!!!

i used that trailer for 2 years and i can't say enough about it, i loved it but i need an enclosed trailer to secure all my stuff while traveling for security and convenience. i just sold it on saturday and it broke my heart to let it go.....
let me know if u have any questions about it.

well I asked in general chat, but so far no one has answered ( http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...0#post33701900 ).
then I found this thread so I thought id ask here.

I am going to have Uhaul install a trailer hitch on my 02 Impreza WRX wagon on friday.
I have read that wagons have a White colored plug behind the passenger tailight.

so I figured I could just do the wiring myself, so after work I went out to find this plug, after removing the tray above the spare tire and the side flooring I found nothing.

I thought maybe it was tucked higher up, so I removed the carpeting breaking the plastic brittle bolts/plug things so I could see the wiring, and I found nothing.
so angry from breaking the plastic brittle bolts/plugs, and breaking my back I decided to call it quits and ask the Subaru experts.

So experts:
does the 02 Impreza WRX wagon actually have this plug?
is the plug located somewhere else?
