Not sure if you're still looking for a hitch but I has a Subaru hitch for sale, was on my MY02 sedan with no issues.

No I put it on my 04 wrx wagon in the spring and it's still on there now. The wagon's hitch points are slightly off from the sti, I had to bend mine about 3mm to fit correctly.

Please please PLEASE don't secure your bike down like that. You're just ASKING for trouble. I understand it's crooked in the trailer but you can still strap it down and load the suspension sideways rather than have it on the kickstand. I use to secure mine right in the back of my short bed F-150. Just a horrible idea to have it strapped down like that.

Yea I know. On the way back I got better straps so I was able to have it sit straight up off the kickstand, and it didn't even budge. This made me nervous the whole way up, and I was checking it every 30 minutes or so.

okay, I have looked through this thread a few times and I'm stumped as to what to get. There are a lot of brands out there and I just don't know what hitch to get for my 2010 WRX (non-STi).

I want something that could possibly hold my motorcycle like the hitch setup shown above (well, soon to be motorcycle, I'm going to order a new one soon).

I can't seem to find anyone that makes higher than a class III hitch anywhere. I realize the car isn't able to tow that much but I would still like to have a nice strong hitch.

I'm also unsure about brands of hitches, what do you guys seem to like the most? and witch one is the most compatible with aftermarket exhausts?

Was going to take the boat out to go look for a big one...

...but the big one turned out to the be the boat. 22' Starcraft Islander Cabin Cruiser. I only moved it around the driveway so we could test fire it after a complete rebuild of the transom/outdrive/etc.

FXT suspension all around, Cusco sways F/R, home made hitch after bending a modified UHaul/Reese setup. Car moved the boat around with ease.

This photo is titled "How to move across the country with the wrong car"

Rubbing was a constant issue, never saw above 60 for 3000 miles, almost wore through the tow chains due to ever sagging springs. Car and trailer made it though, springs took a few days to recover!

Dont plan on EVER doing this again, but it was cheaper to buy a trailer and new coilovers after the trip than rent a U-Haul.

You shouldve twisted the chains (cross them a few more times) to take out the slack. You NEVER want to let the chains drag on the ground at speed.

They are crossed a few times in the photo (tough to tell i know) and we crossed them up a LOT more after i took this photo. Didn't think the car would sag more as we went so we didn't check the chains for wear, ended up dropping 2 inches more than when we started!

I agree whole heartedly though, dragging chains is a BADDDD idea!

How much would something like that cost?? I'm looking at converting a 6x12 aluminum cargo trailer into a camper. Those weigh about 1000lbs empty.

If you are looking for affordable hitches for your subaru, a great website i always turn to is hitchweb.com. They have a vehicle lookup right on their website that shows you every hitch available for it. This link will take you there http://www.hitchweb.com/trailer-hitch-search

I'm afraid to ask, but what kind of mpg were you getting? Towed something similar in size up the east coast and never saw more than 11 mpg.

Thats because youre WAY beyond the rating of the car and hitch. Youre lucky you didnt bend the body and/or the hitch.

Yup. Someone is going to kill someone and get the **** sued out of them.

But hey, what do the engineers know. They just put the limits there to scare people.
