The Lakers need to bring back Phil Jackson. I don't like Brown's way of coaching. Hell, even I would be a better coach

If I can bring myself to tolerate the sorry crapfest that is NBA basketball, I might be pulling for the Lakers. Nash needs a ring.

Not likely that I'll watch much though. After a long hiatus I gave the NBA a fair shot for the past couple years, and it's worse than ever. I think I'll stick with hockey.

Did you not watch the playoffs the last couple years? Some REALLY great series.

Yeah you go enjoy your NHL....oh sorry, they'll probably get locked out this year and put the final dagger in the league. It hasn't yet recovered from the last lock-out/strike.

This. Mike Brown has the ability to offset Hall of Fame talent. I'm guessing they still lose to OKC.

A mix between the triangle offense and pick and rolls with Nash, Kobe, Dwight and Gasol would be so dominant. I mean, let's be honest, Nash will make the smart choices and make sure that everyone is touching the ball. Dwight and MWP will cause havoc for teams with their defense. Gasol is also a great passer so I see many Nash > Gasol > Dwight combos. Kobe will go to work in the second half.

All they really need now is maybe one more playmaker/scorer from the bench and a better coach. I am a big Lakers fan, but trying to be non bias...I can see this team winning the next 2-3 seasons before Kobe retires

The smart move that they probably won't make is to play Nash off the bench replacing Kobe.

Yes I watched all of the playoffs for the past few years, and a bunch of regular season games. If by great you mean "horribly reffed flop fests", I agree. It's nearly as bad as soccer at this point, and the flop-friendly rules of the game will just make it get worse every year.

Say what? Did you just say playing Nash off the bench and "smart move" in the same sentence? Nash isnt a Manu or Harden type scorer that can come in the game to provide instant bench scoring. He is a play maker and much more valuable starting. Howard / Gasol are going to get alot more easy buckets, leaving Kobe to take is easy and pick his spots when he wants.

I don't think LA will win next season. 2 new players and getting used to new coach, team, offense, suck bench... Has it ever happened right away? Miami didn't right away either.

And Jason Terry got a new tat, so watch out.

I think they are definitely the favorites now. They have the best players, and more importantly they are a well constructed "team". Miami showed you can win with stars alone even when you have holes in your lineup, the Lakers have no such holes.

Coachingwise: the coach doesnt matter when you have Kobe and Nash, they alone are respected enough to have the other players fall in and be motivated. Look at Spoelstra this year, you dont need to be a great coach if your great players are doing their jobs.

Teamwise: Nash, Kobe, MWP, Gasol, and Howard. That is a mind bottling lineup to throw out there and covers every facet of the game.

Offense: Nash is an offense all by himself, watch how he will impact every player. Makes everyone much better.

Bench: Jamison is a HUGE improvement for their bench and they finally will have a consistant bench scorer now.

Boston won it their first year with the "big 3".

'08 Celtics with KG and Ray Allen as the newcomers.

'04 Lakers would've done it also with Karl Malone and Gary Payton as the newcomers, but Karl got injured.

'06 Heat did something similar, with Mourning, Payton, Antoine Walker and few others as newcomers.

'04 Pistons were also similar, with new coach Larry Brown at the start of the season, and getting Rasheed Wallace (and Mike James) at the trade deadline.

Note though that the head coaches for teams I listed above were Doc Rivers, Phil Jackson, and Pat Riley (after he kicked SVG out), and Larry Brown. Hall of Famers, right there. Mike Brown, on the other hand.......

I'm not sure I've ever seen Kobe move without the ball in his hands. Nash and Kobe fill the same/similar role of playmaker. Just don't be too surprised when it looks like the 2010 Heat out there, ok?

Thunder signed Serge Ibaka to a 4 year, $48 million extension.

Ibaka would be the latest member of the Western Conference champion Thunder to reach a long-term extension, joining Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook.

The 6-foot-10 Ibaka, who just completed his third season, averaged 9.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.6 blocks this past season. He also was a member of Spain's silver medal-winning team at the London Olympics.

Phew. I knew they'd get one under contract ASAP. That leaves Harden ripe for the picking.
