AWD 6MT EJ22T AWIC Swap

Default Legacy AWD & 5MT Conversion

I've been planning this for a while now, but will be starting things next weekend.

Here's the details. I have a 1990 donor AWD 5MT wagon that I will be using for all the AWD swap components, subframe, gas tank, etc, and a few of the 5MT components.

I have 1991 turbo legacy transmission that has been rebuilt by Richard Buckner. I also have the accompanying driveline, and LSD rear diff, and will be using these components rather then the stuff from the wagon.

I will be upgrading the rear lateral links to the whiteline adjustable lat links, whiteline subframe bushings, whiteline end links, and sti rear diff mount. I'll be swapping out the front and rear KYB GR2's for a set of AGX's.

Transmission wise, I will be using an sti short throw shifter, along with that adapter joint kha0s mentioned to make it all work (btw part # is 35047AC030). I have a low mileage 3k mi WRX clutch & pp I'll be using along with an exedy LW flywheel.

I've got everything pretty much handled with the AWD swap side of things. I know there is some differences in the evap lines and stuff off the gas tank, but I should be able to deal with that.

The tranny swap part again should be alright. However here are my current questions/issues. I don't have the clutch fork, boot, spring, pins, or any of that stuff for the turbo legacy tranny. Can I use all WRX stuff?

I'm picking up a t-legacy clutch MC & slave cylinder from a buddy. However I don't know if it has the bolts associated with it. BTW the WRX clutch slave cylinder has a different bore then the tlegacy. I'm not sure about the clutch MC however. Either way you can swap them around, it'll just change pedal effort and clutch fork movement. The tlegacy setup has a damper of some sorts. I will be getting rid of that, and probably use a generic SS braided line.

Brake & clutch pedal system. Here is where I need some help as well. I still need to find a setup, and if a WRX pedal setup will work, that'd be great, and probably easier to find. I'm just hoping all the holes are there to put the clutch MC on the firewall and pass everything through.

If anyone could take some pictures of their clutch MC and the orientation on the firewall and possibly pedal assembly, I would greatly appreciate it.

Josh

i am not positive for your model year but i am pretty sure the clutch fork, rod, spring, etc... should all be the same, i used one from a wrx for my six speed, which i know is closer in year but i dont think they have changed the 5MT much right?

i can take some pics for you of the MC and such if you'd like, all the holes were already there on my car, again its newer but i dont see why yours would be different i would think subaru would have the same parts bin style then as well, however subaru does do some different things from year to year.
