I have the blitz sus intake and turboxs turbo back with rfl muffler, after I installed these the top end is sick, but I seemed to lose a little low end. I just installed the turboxs manual boost controller and set it to 16 psi, all I gotta say is that the thing is sick, very little turbo lag (no smile lag) lots more power down low. I am going to dyno the car tomorrow and will post readings when I get back into town.

Well I'm using a Greedy E-01. I'm currently running 14psi in 1st - 4th. 5-6th seems to be willing to get 16psi. AutoX I have it down so it makes 17.2 psi peak in 2nd.

Problem is that the car seems to make a whole hell of alot more boost in 5th and 6th. So setting it up so I make the 17psi I want in the low gears means it makes 19+ psi in the top gears which while makes a whole hell of alot of power, also makes for a nice smack as the boost fuel cut comes on.

yep...which is why i tweak mine for 1.225bar in 6th

i still make a decent amount of boost in lower gears, but am not plagued with boost cut. i hate that feeling.

Just what I wanted to hear. It has the same fuel cut at 19psi. Are any of you using an egt or are you getting any spark knock. I know these things run real fat (rich) under boost. I thing with the more boost and leaner mixture(not too lean) this should make for some "tummy ticklin" power. I have 750 miles on my car now so it won't be long. Thanks for the input. Dwight

boost cut kicks in when the ecu sees more than 17.6psi ( i think) for more than 2 seconds. dont quote me, but its something along those lines.

the car doesnt make much power past 16.8psi anyways, since it pulls timing at that point.

You need an AVC-R. I too was plagued with dealing with either low boost in the lower gears, or not being able to use any gear over 3rd.

The AVC-R has gear based boost settings.

I have been out of town and not near a computer, so I am a little out of the STi loop. I was under the impression that a MBC would not work with the STi do to the throttle by wire system. If you increase the boost the TBW system would pick it up and instantly compensate. Is this info I was told accurate?

no. if you disconnect the fbc, the ecu knows nothing about any boost.

Question

So Type C does this mean we are back to the early days of the WRX with the AVC-R. I know this might be wrong and upset some people but I think a Utec is not only a long way off but the cost will be very high. They have to be able to control cam timing & TBW and be reliable at the same time. I believe this will delay them for some time on the Utec. This is not your run of the mill ECU . I do hope they achieve what we all want.
