Default Any experience using eSSD (via USB) with factory Clarion HU?

Specifically, either of the non-nav Clarion head units in later model vehicles? The external USB hard drive was a no-go; error message that the device was not recognized. Tried everything short of reformatting the drive...

I know this wont be of any help whatsoever, but I find that even aftermarket single DIN headunits have TERRIBLE interfaces for hard drive browsing. Never used a double myself.

Would still be interesting for informational purposes though. Good luck!

Thanks. I hear ya'. This is why iPods are so popular.

I'm probably just going to give it a try. My 16GB memory stick works fine; not sure how a 128GB SSD will. Might be a file system size limitation. Wish there was more information available on the OEM Clarion radios...

This is simply filesystem limitations and the antiquated head unit can recognize.

It doesn't matter if you use SSD or IDE to USB adapter, its all down to the HDD size and formatting

From the owner's manual, in the audio section:

NOTE
. HUB class USB memory cannot be
played.
. ATAPI subclass USB cannot be
played.

This means the use of hubs and SSDs is not supported. Flash drives are pretty cheap, though...

Thank you for that!

I'm in the process of copying a ton of mp3 files over to a 64GB SDXC card. I'll update this post with my results.

Edit1: Same problem using a 64GB Lexar SDXC Class 10 card in a
generic USB adaptergeneric USB adapter
. Not giving up yet; I'm going to try a couple other high capacity cards.

Edit2: Sony 32GB SDHC Class 10 UHS-1 card in the same USB adapter works fine.

Edit3: ADATA 64GB USB3.0 stick works!
