si i am.. i blame the cams for the far right power band and spool up, but top end is pretty much AMAZING. 4600-7,800 feels pretty decent. i havent been past that. when I get tuned on e85, I plan on running 28-29psi. and hopefully rev it to 8,600 rpm.

I have search and searched and probably searched too much becuase i can not find out if HX-35 can be use on turbo xs rotated kit.
Perrins kit (tuner) cost is quite a bit more, and i now wonder if it would be cheaper to have someone make me a v band dp, v band up w/ewg vband. I have a downpipe that i could ship that could be worked. Any oppinons or experience welcomed |

That would be stellar, i am/was concerned with the "clocking" of the turbo as far placement is concerned. From what i read in the thread the holset must be positoned +or- 5 degrees to compensate for tilt back and such. Other than that my main concern was height of the turbo when using the txs kit. So in essence i can use that adaptor and have my spare down pipe reworked into rotated correct. I had a hx35 on a 2.7 block, and it made more power than my fp red and built boost about 2k faster, it seems that the big difference between holset and other turbos, is that diesel turbos start building boost much much faster, I remember seeing 5 psi by like 2800 rpms in 4th gear, I dont have any facts to back it up but I promise they spool way better, but they dont give you that hit you in your face until like 20psi..... Its more gradual... I loved it, I will be showing pics of an hx60 on a suby... get ready for pics.

Good luck spooling it. Diesel trucks have a hard time spooling it.
Anyway does this exist? A billet wheel hx35 but a hx40 compressor cover and a bep vband hot side? I want a big cover but still good spool. And don't need more than the hx35. |

As for the text from yesterday; I'd certainly hope that a 3.8L EG with an S475 is quicker than a 2.43 with an HX55 As for the spoolgate idea, tell your fab guy to size things correctly. I'd have used a 44-50mm gate for my crossover. The 60 might bleed pressure to quickly and prove to make tuning quite difficult...just a hint from someone that spent two years calibrating similar situations on diesel engines. |

Yes, its an HE351CW. This is a 69lb/min turbo with a 9cm hot side. The compressor is the same as a 7-blade HX40 but the hot side is very close to a HY35. Overall this is comparable to a FP black, but forget about stock location.... The v-band it comes with on the hot side is an odd size (its like a 3.83" v-band) so its best to just weld on a common size, mine is 4". The alternative to this is to simply build a hybrid HX35/40..... |

Does a hx40 compressor cover fit on a hx35?

That hx60 is almost 40% larger than that s475..... so if that is true... holset is doing it wrong... It must weigh 10 lbs more than the s475.. Ill post pics and you let me know if you think that the hx60 I have is comparable to the bw..... unless holset makes a larger than hx60...Dont hate micah...=)

Im going off research I did years ago so best to verify. You use the HX35 turbine housing, turbine, and CHRA, with the HX40 compressor and wheel. If Im remembering correctly there is just a bit of work to get the compressor to fit on the CHRA. Loads of info on this procedure just google HX40 hybrid. By the time your done buying two turbos or a mismash of parts to make it work, why not buy the off the shelf version of the hybrid, for the same price as a single HX40?

I just did a quick search and see that the HX60 family is rated up to 0.95 kg/s (about 126 lb/min) and found an S480 (which size was it again?) map peaking at 0.90 kg/s (119 lb/min).
So yeah, the HX60 model, if the largest wheel, could flow about 50 more hp...going by the rule of thumb 10 lb/min = 100 hp. |

So.. I just did some measurements and I'm 90%sure it's a hx80 series which flows 196 lbs/min... So it's About 35lbs more than a s510......Can I spool it?

Tim's Turbo can convert your HX35 to a 40/35 hybrid pretty inexpensively.... if you already own an hx35. He can also just build a complete unit if you don't already have one. I'm not sure if he has worked with the Batmowheel but I plan to find out. |
