I have a Rock River AR with a free float hand guard and I want to change it out for another free float hand guard. Both are Rock River hand guards so I dont think it should be any other parts other then the hand guard itself...

If they are free floating then they will either thread off, or they just have a couple screws holding them in place, its quick and easy

Does your handguard attach through the standard delta ring or onto a barrel nut. If its on the barrel nut then you need to make sure both handguards use the same barrel nut. If they don't you are going to need to pull the barrel off to change them. I have actually heard some good things about the gunsmiths at SCG and AR work isn't an art form like working on a high end hunting rifle. You also have Ken Elmore (I think that's his name) down at SAW in Tempe. He is one of the top AR guys in the world.

I just did my ccw class at insight training in Prescott valley and it was kind of a joke. The whole class was basically them sales pitching their advanced classes. They do claim to be able to get a first time shooter shooting 1" groups at 10 yards but after the first 3 hours of sales pitch I was over it. So ya, im glad to be getting my ccw but I can't recommend doing it at insight

I am hoping to go from this
http://www.rockriverarms.com/popup.c...urentryop2.gif to this http://www.rockriverarms.com/popup.c.../purtacop2.gif. Everything is the same except the hand guard, so I am hoping that it is just the hand guard that needs to be changed and I can reuse everything else. |

So, does anyone else find the act of taking a **** to be quite the hassle when open carrying? As soon as I unbuckle my belt, out wants to go crashing to the ground. I leave it on the counter at home, but I can't do that in public.

run your belt the opposite way in your pants, your buckle will catch on the first loop and the holster/gun wont hit the deck

I wear a clip less iwb (sticky holster) so once i undo my pants I can easily remove it & set it on top of the toilet paper thing or something... I highly recommend these sticky or remora holsters.. 100% retained when your pants are buttoned, don't even need a belt, clip less in the waste band, I don't understand why more local shops don't carry them, I wouldn't consider anything else... I have gone on bicycle rides in basketball shorts with my sticky holster and it doesn't even move...... I feel sorry for people wearing conventional in the waste band holsters.

Usually when I'm out and about I just have my 38 in my pocket. Soooooo much easier to carry around. If I'm going somewhere crowded like the mall or into a crappy area of town then I bring the Glock.
