If you own one and you push it at the track or the street and you are making decent stock turbo power and tq you WILL blow up. the pistons in these things are made of glass. Almost all my local freinds with similar setups blew up.

forged pistons should do the trick, and MAYBE a different tuner. if something else goes wrong I will most likely go back to stock and get rid of the car.

Sad to hear this news. I wish I could say that I didn't understand, but I do.

Come over to the RWD Side. Ringlands and transmissions are good over here! Just noisy fuel pumps and emo (sensitive) windows is all you have to deal with!

The guy who ran the red light's insurance company (State Farm) came by this morning. Their estimate of $4,500 is right on par with my trusted paint and body guy. Looks like repairs should start next week. :-\

^ what a mess! I'm sorry you have to deal with getting repairs that shouldn't have been needed in the first place. Glad you are OK though!

Lol I own an STi, I rub my drivetrain in other car enthusiast's faces. Its my out dated hunk of boxer that is doing the party pooping.

It all started with a little oil consumption, I'm talking a quart every oil change. It got worse and a quart would disappear ever thousand or so miles. Then came some detonation, a count of knock here, a count of knock there and on rare occasions two counts. I was TOLD it was nothing to worry about since the car was performing well over expectations (trapped 114.7 on 93oct).

The car started running like ****, I assumed it was a boost leak. I did a boost leak test, and found the leak (I think) and proceeded to do some test runs. AFRs where in the mid 12's at WOT and boost was only at 16 lbs. I put the car away and it blew up the next morning.

Seriously, oil consumption + detonation is most likely a broken motor. if you think your engine is going to go soon, I would go back to stock and hope the dealership didn't red flag your warrantee like they did to me.

There will always be people that say, "Well, this is what happens when you mod your vehicle." However, these cars are blowing up WAY too soon for the mods thrown at them, in my opinion. Barely two years old or so, it's just disappointing.

My transmission comment was me including my issues with my WRX having a faulty shift fork from the factory. I would have loved to have gotten another STI after having had a 2005 STI and seeing the sedan was returning for 2011, but I just felt the Limited was overpriced and the base was lacking in amenities. I can't get myself to care about the current gens anymore, either, although I would love to have one as a project car in about 5-8 years or so if the new STI is hideous.

Promise to always love your STI transmission for all that it's worth!

Oh man, bummer... As a fellow SSM owner, I have always loved your car and what you've done to it. Hoping to a quick and successful repair!

This I totally understand. After owning my STi for a few weeks I can definitely say that all my messing around with WRXs in the past was a huge waste of money. The STi out of the box drivetrain wise is amazing and I can't ever look back.
The motor is the part that scares me now. But I plan on staying under warranty and not modding any power options whatsoever until the car is paid off/warranty is up.

I said the same thing, within a year I was tuned for a TBE. If you're serious about staying stock, STAY AWAY from nasioc and/or any local subie meet. It's a recipe for the mod bug to bite you in the A$$.

got my tail light overlays and fog overlays on. Tails aren't 100% perfect but they are pretty good

Also got my wc lathe werks custom shift knob, really like it, makes the shifts noticably smoother

Car looks great! Are those XD9s 18x10et18s? I ordered tail light overlays just the other night. Except mine just cover the turn signals. I left the reverse lights clear, where did you get yours from?

Yeah, I'm actually happy with the burnt tips. I was hesitant about it but you know I'm actually happy with the outcome.

Haha, no kidding. I said I was going to leave my WRX alone for four years. Stage 1 and all of the random inexpensive mods leave me wanting to upgrade the suspension and get some 18x9.5s! Argh.

As far as I know...only custom ones. They came out of the right side mostly because the 08-10 WRX hatchbacks were right exit only. Since the single exit exhausts made for those still mount up to the 11+ WRXes, manufacturers haven't really had the need to change it up.

Haha for the most part I think I have this bug under control. I already decided I would do all aesthetic and have suspension changed. Along with wheels. Lite vinyl wrapping. JDM. But no motor. I figure I'll be busy enough making her pretty and trying to make it stand apart from the other 57992747482 SWP STis that are out there.
