Opinions wanted
Trying to get back into a Subaru and one that is already modified . Looking at Foresters or Wrx wagons because I have a family now and could use the extra space. Found these two on Craigslist and just curious if ya'll think these are good deals or not. I know that one has very limited information and I'm waiting to get more pictures from both sellers. Blue book on both of these is much lower than what they're listed a, but I want to be realistic and not get a bad deal on something. Thanks in advance

There is a 06ish outback XT with manual transmission for sale at a local dealer in town. I think they are asking like 9400 bucks. 120k miles, bone stock.
could be another option if you're interested in something slightly bigger. i'd probably keep on looking if I was looking for a forester XT. I like to buy vehicles that are essentially stock though. Best of luck in your search! |

My opinion: NO.
I'm telling you--I did this same exact thing last year except with an RS (STi block, sti bits and goodies, etc.) but no matter what, it's an OLD car that's simply overpriced and is still going to be slow until you can throw money at it for awhile. And then what? You end up 11k+ in the hole for a car that's worth 2k. Someone pulls out in front of you at a light and you're SOL. What will you do for wiring and ECU? You won't pass OBDII with a Hydra, and any UTEC or similar option is outdated and won't give you a ton of room for tuning once you're above 7-8psi. So once you drop a couple grand you've spend $9000 on a Forester that still has stock 14 year old suspension and brakes. Honestly, I was in a similar boat and if you want a go-fast car for cheap, find something else like a well maintained VR6 jetta. |

As for these two foresters go, I think I'm going to pass on them. I've seen much nicer ones in other states for the same price. |

Do your self a favor and either buy a bone stock car or have a reputable shop find you one that they know of. Please do this.

Especially don't buy that sweet "twincam" setup. speaks for it's self.
